I'm out this month - but have a question
11

It started last night...the spotting. I knew it was bad news...sure enough, heavier spotting today, but not really a "flow" yet. Two questions:

1) I am missing a couple of temps on my chart, but I thought I O'ed on CD 22. However, if AF starts today, that's only 11 DPO, and last month it was 14. Could my O date be wrong on my chart? I thought the length of the luteal phase is not really supposed to fluctuate. I'm wondering if my O date was really day 19, as FF originally said it was. But my OPKs and CM contradicted this. Day 22 seemed to make more sense but now AF is so early. I'm really confused by it.

also - ****TMI ALERT****
2) Last night was just spotting. Today when I wipe after urinating (ugh sorry) I see a substantial amount of red blood (not brown, not pink) on the paper, but it's not really flowing yet. I'm wearing a pad but nothing is on it, just on the TP when I wipe. Should I consider this CD 1, or wait?

Thanks~!

It looks like FF was right on with your O date. It can be normal for your LP to vary by a few days. I usually ranged between 12-15 days. As long as it's more than 10 days then I wouldn't worry *too* much.

As for your second question, day 1 of a cycle always begins when you see red blood flow.

I'm sorry this wasn't your month. :( You're starting Clomid next cycle, right? I sincerely hope it works for you. The third time was the charm for us!

So just to clarify, I DID O on day 22, and....today is day 1? I'm also wondering because I have to schedule my HSG, and she was giving me a little bit of a hard time because I wasn't sure if this was technically spotting or a light start to my period. I think I'm going to consider it spotting. It's there, just only on the toilet paper. This happens to me every cycle and I never know if I should count it as day 1.

Thanks!

Oh, and yeah.....I'm a little bummed. Especially because we really timed the BDing perfectly, or so I thought, and my chart looked really promising. This was a tough pill to swallow. I don't think I'm starting the Clomid until June, because she doesn't want to give it to me until I've had the HSG. By the time I see her to discuss it, it will be too late to start it for this cycle. But that brings me to another question...if I'm already Oing, and I think I'm finally convinced I am (lol), what will Clomid do for me exactly??

Yes, I think you did O on CD 22. Also, if it were me, I would say today is spotting of you're only getting it on the tissue. You'll probably see your full blown period tomorrow.

If my memory serves me correctly isn't there like a 5 day window for when you can get your HSG done? Even if you're off by a day or two about when AF *technically* starts you should still be okay.

Clomid will regulate your cycles, make you O earlier, and regulate your LP. Dr's sometimes prescribe it for women with long, irregular cycles. It can also cause your body to release multiple eggs, thus increasing your chances of conceiving (though there's only about a 10% chance of twins). Did your Dr feel it was something that would be helpful for you?

Yeah, I scheduled it for May 4th, which should be within the window. I had an appt. with the doc for the next day, but I'm going to push it back a week to allow some time for the office to get the results. Does that take long?

I'm hoping that the Clomid might help things along, but I guess I'm just utterly confused about what my situation is. I've only been trying for a couple of cycles and I think it's too early to even know if there's a problem. I got this very upsetting "diagnosis" of PCOS based on a sonogram, but everything I've read says that PCOS shouldn't be diagnosed unless there has been other testing done to confirm a hormone imbalance. All I've had was day 3 blood work, which is basically normal. Do I definitely have PCOS based on the sonogram? Do I have it and it's just not really messing with my ovulation? I'm sooooo confused. When I think about it it gives me a headache, honestly.

:(

I actually got the results of my HSG then and there. Because the exam has to be done by a radiologist (aka a Dr), he can give you the results of what he sees as he's doing it. I didn't even need to schedule an appointment with my own Dr. I hope that's the case with you, too!

Unfortunately, I really don't know much about PCOS to give any advice. All I can say is it seems like your Dr's bedside manners leaves a little to be desired. Perhaps you could seek a second opinion? Or at least ask for further testing from your current Dr? If you do haven't, it doesn't seem like it's affecting your fertility at all.

I'm really surprised that they've been doing all this testing already. Why is that? With me they started after 6 mos of trying, and even that was considered early, but it can be customary to begin earlier testing with secondary infertility. The reality of it all is that, as much as it SUCKS, sometimes it just takes a while. I remember the first time I read the statistics I just wanted to cry. I mean, even when we did all that we could and timed everything perfectly, we only had a 20% chance of conceiving every cycle. Add to that the fact that DH's spermies weren't normal and the fact that my ovulation was all over the place, and man, it seemed nearly impossible! The Dr felt that we probably wouldn't conceive on our own, that IUI would probably be our only chance. But then it happened, so it just goes to show, the Dr's don't everything. The fact that your DH had a normal SA is GREAT news!
