Well today i had an early u/s and the tech couldn't see anything so she tried a vaginal u/s and you can see a sac but nothing in it.My lmp was Nov 11th.So i should be about 4weeks and a couple of days. What can be seen this early on a u/s?I'm freaking out because my Dr. mentioned miscarriage and now she wants to run a 48 hr hcg blood test and follow up with a u/s in 2 weeks.I'm stressed out now.i also posted this on the Aug ec to see what othewr preggo mom's think. What do you ladies think?Any advice would be appreciated or any insight. Thanks!

My doc doesn't even schedule an appointment until 8 weeks! I'm surprised they did that so early. Try not to worry! Its just too early.

When I was 4 weeks 2 days pregnant, they did an ultrasound on me (vaginal) and didn't see a thing, not a sac, anything, but my tech said that was completely normal not to see anything and to come back at the 6 week mark.

I agree with other posts.. My last pregnancy the doctor did an ultrasound at 5 weeks and told me he would probably not see anything. Your Hcg levels need to be at 1500 to see anything and that doesn't normally occur until 5-6 weeks.

Everybody else is right. You just can't see much at 4 weeks. Honestly, the sack may still appear empty at 6 weeks. The ultrasound technician I talked to said she wished they never did ultrasounds

I'm surprised they tried a regular u/s. My dr always does vaginal the first couple months. My last pg at 5 weeks you could see a sak and a tiny yolk. 4 weeks is really early. I know it's easier said than done, but done stress. Hopefully you can get another ultrasound in a couple weeks and see the LO.

At 5 weeks we saw the twins, one with an empty sac and one with a pole, but we got them both! Try and relax, I am sure everything is ok:)

4 weeks is too early to see anything, its sometimes even early to see a sac, so that's great that you saw one. Normally you will see a sac and possibly a fetal pole at 5 weeks, and the heartbeat starts around 6-7 weeks. I think its terrible that your Dr. mentioned m/c based on your u/s when it's so early yet. Hang in there, waiting is the worst part!

All I know is that when I was 4 weeks along, my nurse practitioner didn't do an u/s on me because she said we wouldn't see much of anything and she didn't want to upset me. I got my first one at 8 weeks and could see the sac, egg yolk and the embryo with a heartbeat. 4 weeks may simply be too early.
