IUD removal....no period

I had my IUD removed in September. My periods have typically been every 30, 40, 42 days. Well right now I am on day 45. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests & they both came out negative. My dr. said my period should be the same....IUD's don't affect the cycle...maybe spotting, but doesn't affect the cycle. I am really frustrated and anxious to get my period so then i can ovulate & hopefully conceive! I realize it is so early. Can someone else tell me about their experience & conceiving after an IUD removal. This will be our first child, I am 32 years old and so is my husband. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

Was it a Mirena IUD? or just a plain ol' copper?

My guess is you haven't ovulated yet, and that's why you haven't gotten your period.

I just had a very similar experience. I had my IUD removed in August. My cycles had always been very regular, 28 days, both before and while I had my IUD. I had last period August 21, right before I had my IUD removed, and then I didn't get my next period until today (a 55 day cycle!) If I hadn't been charting and temping I would have had no idea what was going on. In fact I didn't really know what was going on for the first month (since I wasn't temping right away) I just thought my period was late and kept taking pregnancy tests which were negative.

You can check out my chart if you want.

I used to just keep track of signs (like cervical mucous and position) but I was getting so frustrated so I started temping too. That's the only reason I knew when I finally ovulated.

My doctor had also told me that everything would be back to normal right away. I think it can, but maybe it can also take a couple months/cycles to get back to normal.

Anyway I'm hopeful that now things are back to normal for me.

Good luck!!

It was a Patagard copper IUD.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It is definitely helpful & puts me at ease a little bit. I too have been temping & I need to make my chart on FF like you did. Thank you for sharing & good luck!!!
