IUI and Clomid??

Hello,
I have been on the boards and I am not sure if my OBGYNs office has my mixed up. I just got a call that they are willing to do IUI with clomid. I haven't asked about that but they came out with it after going over DH results. I haven't had the HSG yet. Would they do the IUI before that?? I am confused and not sure what to do. DH is checking on the insurance and what they cover. He said that we can figure out how to pay for it if we need to. Also, our trip is in three weeks. SO we need to figure out what we are going to do.
Any advice??

Thanks in advance.

Hi Kelly~ I just read the pp, and I know you had alot of your questions answered already but I thought I would tell you of my experience. I had my 2nd IUI two weeks ago. It is really nothing to worry about. There is no pain and it is quick and easy. Afterwards you have to lie down for about 10 min and then go about your day. My RE told us to continue BD as well. My insurance did not cover it either. The cost was $250 for the procedure and sperm wash. I wish you all the best! Good luck and enjoy your trip! :)

I know very little about IUI or clomid...so my questions is for you:) Did the OB/RE call because of the DH sperm count? Did they say this would be the onyl way to conceive...was just wondering...and PS up until this post from Kelly i thought IUI was more expensive..this post has put me at ease:) Good luck Kelly with what u decide:)

Hello~ I think you may have been referring to Kelly who received the call from her OB. I am not sure about that. But IUI (intrauterine insemination) is usually
$225-325 depending on where you live. It is a simple procedure. You DH gives a sample and the office will wash it. When that is done you have a small catheter inserted through the cervix and the sperm is pushed

Good luck with your appt on the 22nd. The RE appt will be really helpful to you. You will be able to have a plan and get some answers. I am not sure how many sperm they put in, but they put all the good ones in. I cannot rememer what my husbands counts were. They will tell you that at the time of the procedure. Good luck and baby dust! KUP!

Hi Ladies,

Every sate is basically different with there protocal from how much a procedure is to how you recieve results but in most cases like mine they will have you come back in the clinic 2weeks that's why we HATE the 2ww...lol

I live in MA and with the insurance i have and with PCOS my RE is recommending 3 IUI and if all failes then i will transfer to IVF..I have been TTC for 5+ yrs with fertility meds and going threw fertlity for over 1yr had many cycles cancelled because of either to many follicles or not enough maturity so it all depends on how your body wants to cooperate and as we all know here that ain't always easy.. Also with my insurance each yr you start out back at 3 approved IUI's so say if I had my second in December (which

Hello,
There isn't anything to apologize for I love all the information. Go and chat away. I am getting more comfortable with the whole idea of IUI from what you are saying. I am in NH and am going to start the first round of IUI and clomid this month. DH and I have made up our minds. We are keeping our fingers crossed that we can have our BFP by the end of the summer. We are hoping that we get it before our 3yr anniversary.(Sept. 1st)

*****tons of baby dust*****

Oh, do they have you go in after the 2WW or do you test at home?
Thanks,

Hi Kelly,

They have you come back into the clinic to have your blood test most first thing in the morning and my clinic usually calls bout after 3 so that wait all day is worst than the 2ww.

We are right around the corner with anniversary's..mine is August 29 and also 3rd...hahaha

Ask away I feel like i have been doing this FOREVER and i also am an avid poster on some other boards with IVF they are really great too and very much caring and supportive and GREAT info...

I really hope you guys get your BFP by summer ends that would be a true blessing...

Hugs,

Michelle
