hi, well I just got AF, and now I am going over my calendar (I don't do temps) and trying to figure out if we timed BDing right. Am I wrong to assume that I would have definetly O'd 14 days ago, does it vary? I usually go by cm and figure that the last day of ewcm is when I must have O'd. This month I had good ewcm for 2 days and if I count back 14 days that means I o'd on the first day of ewcm? By not doing temps I'm worried that I could be way off, can anyone please share their opinion with me!!! Thanks Lisa

Hi Lisa, I am sorry AF showed for you...

I am by no means an expert, but it is my understanding that while everyone's LP is different, it is usually consistent month to month for the individual person. I don't know if that makes sense? Your O dates can definitely change, which is why some months have longer or shorter cycles. Let me use myself as an example. I think I have a 14 day LP, and I have cycles that range from 27-31 days. That means I O anywere between CD13-17.

Without using OPK's or charting, it is really difficult to pinpoint an O date. Last cycle I thought I O'd on CD14, but it turns out it may have been CD16. I think I missed it. I guess it is all hit and miss though. If it was an exact science there would be no such thing as "trying" to concieve! The best thing I can suggest (and DH has to be willing) is to BD for at least 2 days before and thru to 2 days after you think you will O to make sure you catch it. Or at least every other day in that time frame. Just my thoughts on the process! :)

Melissa said it best...without opk's or charting it is hard to tell whether when o arrives...it very much can vary from woman to woman...I would definetly consider using opk's at the very least...and if you have the money...I have found the Clear Plan Fertility Monitor to be the best in the area of opk's....it is sort of a non mess up system...hope all goes well next cycle
