okay, this might be a little ridiculous, but when you have been trying to conceive for 18 months or so, you really start thinking about anything and everything. monday will be cd14 and i have an ultrasound at my r/e scheduled for that morning. last month my lining was plush and i had at least three mature follies on the left ovary and at least two mature on my right. bd'd when i thought we should have. nothing. after watching the friends episode where monica has an "inhospitable environment" that is part of the reason she and chandler have not gotten pg yet, i am wondering whether or not this is the case for me. so..... do you ladies think that if my dh and i bd either sunday evening or monday morning will the "little guys" be detected by a vaginal ultrasound? any input would be appreciated! thanks.

Hi Nicole,

I really am not sure about if they could be seen on ultrasound...but I do think there are tests that can be done to assess the "environment"...I think that is what a postcoital test is. You go in shortly after BD, and the doc can see if the spermies are freely swimming in the cervical fluid. I could be wrong about that...but I think that is what that test does.

Anyway...I'm sorry it is taking you a while to conceive...Hopefully soon you'll get your BFP!!!

Take care,

Anne

Nicole

TV is just ridiculous with some of the things they come up with. I think the "inhospitable environment" is what Anne was saying, the cervical mucus from the PCT. I had one of those. It wasn't bad, but it did show that my cervical mucus is too thick and hubby's sperm can't swim thru them, thus I guess making it inhospitable. Of course IUI's bypass the cervix anyway.

thanks for the response...i guess my husband and i will continue trying for a month with clomid and if it doesn't work, we are going to have to take a break from the drugs. once our break is finished, we will try the iui. my insurance doesn't cover anything with infertility, so i am trying to avoid all those unnecessary tests. my r/e has not said anything about postcoital tests, just iui. again, i appreciate the responses, ladies.

have a great weekend!
