Hello all,

OK, so this is cycle 3 of TTC, and I havent started temping or charting yet. If I don't get a BFP this month, then I would like to start charting. The only thing is I don't really know all the details so if someone could pls help me out with that, i would appreciate it :)

So, all this time i've just gone according the O calculator. My cycle is usually 34 days and my last period was March 24th. We BD'd on April 8th,10th and 12th. (Cuz thats what the calculator said..that i would ovulate between the 9th and the 13th).

Therefore, i'm not too sure of the exact day I ovulated and hence cannot calculate DPO's. Just did a preg test a couple hours ago which was a BFN :(

I know, it's very frustrating. I don't understand how people can seriously say "just relax and have fun trying". I don't get it.

Anyway...I'm only in my 2nd cycle "officially" TTC, and another month of just being careless, but in this time I've learned a lot. I can't say for sure when you Oed. If you Oed on the 9th, you would be 12DPO right now, I believe, and it would indeed be possible to get a BFP with FMU. However, if you Oed on the 13th, which I did also, you're only 8DPO, and that's just too early to tell much. (But that didn't stop me from testing this a.m. anyway!)

One thing I've learned is how important it is to chart. I do not have a clockwork cycle and I need to chart to know exactly if and when I have ovulated. Once I have the day down, I can really interpret the rest of my chart. If this isn't your month (and I hope it is!!) I would start charting. I've learned a lot about my cycle by doing it.

I would use Fertility Friend to chart, and they have a very detailed tutorial of how to do it. All you need is a basal body thermometer which you can get at any drug store. The only thing I'll stress is that they key to charting successfully is consistency. You should really be committed to taking your temp at the same time every day (weekends included) and that might mean setting an alarm. I was reluctant to go that far the first month and the result was a lot of inaccurate temps. If you're using a chart as a tool for understanding your body, it should be accurate. I learned my lesson.

The difference between my two charts is amazing to me.

Good Luck!!!

Dont feel bad, I am discouraged like you. We have been trying for a few months as well with no luck. I need to start temping also. I have been doing the Ovulation Kits but that's it. Trying not to stress is hard also, especially when it's something you really want. But hang in there, we will all get out day one day soon! And were all here to vent when we need it!

I do not mean to put a damper on the subject, but I have been TTC for about 10 months. The thing I have learned the most over the months that it is not always easy for someone to conceive like I had originally thought of. Nobody really hears the effort put forth prior to the delivery of a precious baby, so I think there is a huge misconception that everyone is a "fertile Myrtle" . Yes there are those women who have super eggs and ovulate like nobody's business but I have found in my friends and family that it took a while. I wish I was back in month 2 or 3. It is a constant struggle to be so positive about the situation, especially when you are so ready to be a mom. There is a great sense of peace knowing that I am not alone, but it still is tough. The whole " stop trying", " just have fun" wears off as the months go on. I hate when people say to stop thinking about it. How can you not think of something so precious? But I do charting from fertilityfriend.com, BBT, CM, and test with OPK regularly, but as cliched as it sounds it is all about timing. Again, I didn't to make anyone more discouraged, but I think there is this misconception that conception ( pun not intended) is a piece of cake. But I do recommend charting and other measures to check ovulation and fertility. But God knows our hearts, knows the plans He has for us.
