Low Thyroid and fertility?

I am new to TTC. I don't think I am pregnant (or have O'd) at this moment, despite having missed my period for over a week (day 37, i think) (I had sort of brown/CM mixed discharge last week, but it stopped, and i haven't really had the EWCM or anything like that). I stopped BC in late october (after being on it for only a month), so I assume it will take a while to get everything back on track. Currently, I am taking Vitex, in hopes of stimulating O (though i have never been able to pinpoint when that happens exactly since i have been on BC on and off for about seven years). i also take iron and folic acid and am buying Vitamin E tomorrow. I have hypothyroidism, and it just occurred to me that I have forgotten to refill my prescription for about three weeks. i have been reading that low thyroid can cause anovulation, which could explain why last year (when i was off BC for about a year before taking it for a month before deciding to try to conceive (confused yet?)), i had such wacky cycles..ranging from 30 to 46 days! anyway, i am getting my refill tomorrow, but i dont know if that could already be a cause of my lack of O or if it's a combo of coming off the month of hormones from my BC. i know im not infertile because i got pregnant when i lost my virginity, but that was 7 years ago. (i dont know if any of that is important, but i wanted to have as much info as possible) im sorry if this is confusing, if anyone needs me to clarify, just let me know. my brain is very scattered at the moment.
i guess my main question is, does anyone else have a low thyroid and has it effected your fertility at all?? and, if i get my refill, will it put me back on track?

i have hypothyroidism as well.
I'm also hypothyroid and have been for about 15 years. It's really really important to keep on your meds and tell your doctor you're TTC. They need to monitor your levels and make sure they're correct. I'm currently waiting for a referral to an endocrinologist to talk about this...I don't trust my primary doctor with "your levels are normal." "Normal" can mean too many different things. My mother got me a book called The Thyroid Solution by Ridha Arem, MD. It has a great section on fertility and your cycles. The author is a woman, so I felt that she understood our issues much more than a man might. If you do a Google search on hypothyroidism and pregnancy, you'll find all kinds of helpful links.
Good luck, ladies and keep taking your meds! Your baby needs them too until they develop their own endocrine system!
