luteal phase

I have been reading TCOYF and I have noticed that during the final days of AF the fluid released is a dark brownish colour. My luteal phase is usually approx. 10 days, and I had read that the colouring of my Af may be due to an insufficient luteal phase. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Are there any tips that anyone who has experienced this could offer? How long is an average luteal phase?

Thanx

Hi Bri! I too have a 10 day luteal phase and 10 days is long enough to sustain implantation. I visited my doctor recently and she told me that 10 days is borderline, but should be enough since my temps rise very well during the LP. What do your temps do? Are they just above coverline, or above it?

Anyway, the textbook LP should be 14 days. But you'll soon come to find out that there is no such thing as textbook when it comes to our cycles! I'm not sure about the color of AF. It might have something to do with progestrone levels during your LP. Some women with short LPs have low progestrone (that's my I asked about your temps after O). I hope that you find this answer.

Good luck to you! I have a short cycle (24 days) and a short LP! I can't do anything like the rest of the crowd!!!

I was reading your posts and I something hit me. I didn't know what LP was until this month. I was used an OPK this month. I usually have a 28-29 day cycle.

The opk did not come + until CD 17 and still + cycle day 18. So do I have a 10 day cycle. How does LP effect implantation? I hade a chemical pregnancy in may. Do you think that is why? Sorry to barge in on your conversation but it sruck me!!!

Thanks!

I know many people who had an LP of 10 days who are now in their 2nd trimester. I think it's a matter of your progestrone as well. My prog. levels are good because my temps are good after O.

I do know that for short LPs the First response tests are pointless. I start AF the day or day after most people test. I won't test until I'm overdue. This is because our implantation will occur around the same time as everyone elses 5-7 DPO. So we just have to sit back and pray the eggie will stick.

My doctor doesn't seem to think it's a problem and that I can have a normal healthy pregnancy. I'm not pg yet, but we'll see.

Good luck.

Thanx Cat

My cycles last between 25-27 days, usually 26 days. My temps. occasionally dip below my coverline during my luteal phase, but they are usually just above it. Do you know of any other ways to monitor for low progesterone? ( Cm or Cervical position?) I will pay more attention to these sings during this cycle.

Thank you so much,

Bri-

The only way I know to find out your proges. if your chart isn't showing a steady pattern after O. I would take a few charts to your OB and tell her/him that you have a short LP and that you need to make sure that your proges. is of normal levels.

My OB saw me only after 5 months of trying because I was so informed.

Good luck to you and feel free to email me (crayburn001@yahoo.com) if you have any other questions. Also, (Sorry TTC Board), there is a circle on FF in the TTC in your thirties group called "sisters of the short luteal phase". Everyone had really good tips. Some people have been TTC for years, so they have a wealth of knowledge.
