Male Fertility Concerns

With all the focus on female fertility, I am curious to hear stories related to male fertility concerns. My husband (36) and I (33) have been trying to conceive for 7 months. (I have never been pregnant, have normal cycles, normal CM - I've also identified when I ovulate). My husband agreed to go get checked out due his own concerns (years of cycling in his young adulthood) and we received a voicemail from his urologist stating that his levels were "pretty good" but "a little low". He requested that my husband undergo a second sperm analysis & scrotal ultrasound to rule out any potential problems. Unfortunately, the dr. went out of town for 2 weeks (conveniently!) and we were unable to immediately follow up with him to get the specifics (e.g. sperm count, mobility etc). I was alarmed at first but realized that we need to get the facts and of course, I need to get checked out too, which I will do in October (first available appt. w/my ridicoulously busy gyne). I know we've been trying for less than a year, but with out advancing ages and desire to have 2 children if possible, I wanted to get a head start!
Any stories to share on this topic would be appreciated!

My Dh had to have 3 S/A done prior to being seen by a urologist. Once you have more than 1 S/A to go by, it is easier to see where the problem may be. Unfortunately, with male infertility, there isn't alot that can be done to 1) treat and cure or 2) to even locate the main cause of the problem. Most of the times the doctors will compensate by over stimulating the female and bypassing the problem with IUI or in severe cases, IVF.
Since your urologist said they were 'a little low' it sounds like your DH's problem is minor and his next S/A may be normal. My DH first S/A showed a cound of 29 mil which is borderline (normal being >20) but his consecutive S/A were 53 and 69mil. He may have just been anxious.
Good Luck and I hope this helped some!

Thanks so much for the information & reassurance. You're better than a medical professional! I'll keep you updated and I may have further questions as well go along...:)
