Missed period...no other symptoms....should I test?

My husband and I have been TTC for some time now and this month I am a few days late for my period. I don't have any symptoms of a period coming or any other pregnancy symptoms (no breast tenderness or naseau). Should I take a HPT or wait a few more days? Has anyone else taken a HTP even when they didn't have pregnancy symptoms?

This is what it comes down to...the amount of hcg in your system. Most Drs. will tell you that you shouldn't test before you miss your period. FRER has banked on the fact that women can't wait to test so they make their claims about being the most sensitive and can pick up HCG in the smallest amounts 5 days before your missed period but here's the facts, it is such a slim number that actually pick that up. In reality, the ones that do risk picking up a chemical pregnancy which is why chemical pregnanies are so much more common now adays than they were before FRER took on their campaign. I'm a firm believer in women waiting until they miss their period. Sure, they still risk the chance of finding a chemical but the chances are much lower at that stage. The chances of a false positive also drop once you've missed your period. Long story short, after you miss your period, you can take a test any time of day and get the result you're looking for. Before than, it comes down to concentration and FMU is obviously the best.
GOOD LUCK!

I think if you're testing before you miss af then morning pee is more likely to have a concentrated amount of hcg, but that doesn't mean afternoon and night pee doesn't have enough. If you only have one test, use it when you haven't had many liquids to water down the pee (which is why morning pee is so concentrated). I took my test in the evening, but I was already 2 days late. The test I took at 12 dpo was with morning pee and it was negative. Giod luck!!

You can hold for 4 hours and test as long as you haven't overhydrated before those 4 hours. FMU is still the best but after you've missed your period, afternoon will give you an accurate answer as well.

Light or Dark lines doesn't really matter. If the test sat on the shelf or was in a particular batch, it can effect how much dye bleeds through on the test. As long as there is a line, that's all that matters.

Good Luck!

That is great! I'm so happy for you! Keep us all updated :)

I'm testing tomorrow morning....or this is a question i've been meaning to ask on here and maybe you know. Does it really matter if you test first thing in the morning or can you just wait like 4 hours and test whenever?

I'd say test, and then of course mak sure you post so all of us, plus those looking at posts down the road long after you've graduated from this board, can look and see what the results were and compare their situation to yours. My period is 2 days late, no sign of it. I'm testing tonight. I'm a bit nervous because most of the women down in the 1 week wait thread that are currently late have tested negative :( I hope you and I can add some BFP's to the board tonight.

Test! I had a few symptoms for a few days, then they went away. I think they were in my head, lol. I have no symptoms now even though my midwife confirmed pregnancy. Test! If it's positive, just be grateful you're not sick!

I would definantly test. When I was pregnant with my daughter I didn't get any symptoms until two weeks after a positive test, and I didn't test until I was ten days late.
