My .02 for charters

Okay, ladies, this is of course not gospel truth, but I thought I'd pass along something that I discovered. Some of you may remember awhile back that Sim told us that sometimes your temperature doesn't rise until several days after O and so the rise doesn't necessarily correspond with your O day. Well, apparantly it also goes the other way. I am using a fertility monitor this month and today am showing peak fertility. That means I'll O today or tomorrow. But, looking at my chart, it kind of looks like I O'd yesterday. DH and I usually take a little rest from BDing after my temp. rises and I am now wondering if we have just been timing BD too early. So my point here is that if you stop BDing after that rise, it might be worth a shot to try to continue for a few days just in case. Couldn't hurt, right? Just a thought. Have a terrific day everyone! -Anne

That EXACT thing happened to me this cycle!!!!!!!!! I KNOW i O'd on CD 17, but I had a small rise in temps on CD16 so FF put my CL there. I had to override it. Glad you posted this!! :D

Anne-you may very well be right. I have a question though..Is this your first time with the fertility monitor? I've heard the first cycle might be a little "off" because it has no previous cycle to compare with. Some people say they'll get a lot of highs the first time and the peak may be off. I'm not saying they're right...just a thought.

Nancy

P.S. Do you get o pains and did they correspond with the peak day? Just curious.

GL Anne!!

Nancy, thanks for the info. That is good to know, and this IS my first month. I can definitely see how the "high's" would be off because they simply reflect increasing estrogen and since there is nothing for the monitor to compare the estrogen to, the monitor wouldn't know how high is actually high for you. I'm not as sure about the "peak" days though. It seems to me that they would be fairly accurate since they simply measure the LH surge, and that's not gradual, like the estrogen. I could be wrong about that, though. Anyway, it's good to know since I didn't know that already. Thanks! -Anne

Anne~

The same exact thing with me!! Usually after my rise, I stop BD - but I also received a peak reading on my monitor (1st time user) and got a temp rise today as well! Strange isn't it! So all this time, and it might just be as simple as timing it wrong?? Can you imagine?? IF that's the case I'm gonna have to kick myself in the butt HARD!! Either way, good luck!! xoxoxo ~Stephanie~

PS: I've been TTC since 9/2001~~ I'm starting to think that I should have bought my monitor a lot earlier!! LOL

If you are going by the "rules" you should keep BDing until the 4th consecutive day of a rise...that way you know you've ovulated. Just like if you are TTA you should not BD until you've had 4 consecutive days of rise.

On another note....GEE you gals and your DHs have a lot of energy! I don't think DH and I could BD EVERY fertile day. When we TTC DD I was exhausted after only 2 days of trying...LOL! But I was standing on head and everything...LOL!

Best of luck to everyone!

I bought the clear plan fertility monitor, this is the second cycle I just finished with using it, The first cycle I got my peak on 16 and 17 and the second month I did to, the only difference was in the first month it gave me a whole lot of high fertility days since it didnt know my body yet and the second month in didnt give me so many so I felt more comfortable with it knowing me better this month, but i would not trade it for the world, all this time I thought I ovulated on day 13 and I was WRONG, so here I am on cycle 6 and for four months had probally been BD on the wrong days lol..

Good luck to you

Wow..that is amazing. Now I can't wait to get my fertility monitor...should arrive at my house any day. I hope I won't need to use it...but if I do...it will be interesting to see if I'm right on with my o day. Were you charting before you got the monitor..you said you always thought you o'd on cd 13..I'm wondering why you thought that..did you get a temp rise?..or have cramps..or did you get a positive on the OPK? I'm really curious now.. GL.

I hope you get that BFP soon.

That's good to know, Steph. I hadn't ever heard that it was a little off on your first cycle (but it makes sense), and now I've heard it several times. So it's good to know that the "high" days may be more off than the "peak" days. I'm really hoping that I don't have to push that "m" button and give the thing a chance to get to know me, but if I do, at least I can feel more confident in my readings next cycle! GL to you. Here's to no need for the monitor next month!!! -Anne

Stacey, I had that type of thing happen two cycles ago. FF and BabyMed both put my coverline too early (which of course meant that my temp was still rising when AF should be showing and I got REALLY excited). I didn't really agree with the line, but since they both put it in the same place, I decided to go with it. What a blow when AF showed. Anyway, I'm not so sure that these programs are as all-knowing as I once thought. DEFINITELY helpful, but perhaps not the end-all beat-all in conception. GL to you!!! -Anne
