My DH's wonderful idea

My DH and I have been trying to conceive for several months now and with each month that passes w/o a pregnancy my spirits are diminished a little more. And since DH is usually working out of town, there have been tons of disappointing months. Well, this month I was 6 days late, and I have never been even a day late, so needless to say I was getting very excited. I took a HPT on 14DPO and got a BFN, but after 16DPO and no signs of AF I started getting even more excited. Well, by 18DPO I started having cramps and AF Showed the very next morning. I have never been so disappointed than that morning. My DH saw how miserable I was and was trying so very hard to cheer me up, but nothing seemed to work.
Every Friday night is "date-night" for DH and I, and we always go out to a nice resteraunt and maybe go for a romantic walk in the park, just something romantic for just the two of us. Well, DH knew that this week I wouldn't feel like going out since I was really down, so he came up with a plan. For now on when AF shows up, we are going to have AF celebration!! This past Friday we got all dressed up, went to a really expensive resteraunt, had champagne, a wonderful meal and dessert, went for our walk in the park, went dancing and just had a great time. He said that every month that there is no BFP we can celebrate another month of our time together. It is amazing how much better this made me feel. It really put a positive feeling on a situation that otherwise would have been an upsetting one. It lifted my spirits and really strengthened our bond on this situation, b/c I am definately a little more obsessed about becoming prego than he is.
Anyway, I thought this might help for some of you who are also getting really down every month. I really didn't think there was anything, but a BFP, that would actually make me feel better. But I was pleasantly suprised!

I think that is a lovely idea - that certainly works well for me this month, since AF is due a day or so before our 2nd anniversary. So I should let go, and celebrate!

That was so touching! Sorry about ah....I hate that hag. Well I think you're dh is a smart man and obviously cares for a great deal and how you're feeling with all this. My dh is the same way, although we've only been ttc #1 for 2 months (this would be our 2nd month) I am waiting to O next week and try again to hit it. I am also taking clomid due to irregular af's and not Oing every month on my own. Have you considered it or looked into yet? You've said you've been ttc for several months, my doc gave it to me on my 2nd month and so far I have no side effects (I take them before I go to bed) I just up a bit with a heavy sleep feeling like I hadn't slept in weeks but once I get going I'm fine. You take 1-2 pills per day for usually 5 days, in my case I am on 100mg so I take two pills per day for 5 days. I forces O to happen even if you're Oing on your own, I O about every other month and have cycles as long as 35-40 days each month so this is why I wanted it and my doc was all for it. I go get the 7dpo progesterone bloodtest after O to confirm I really did O and see how high my levels were. Also, with the clomid I'll have an U/S next month when we figure out what day I will O on the clomid to see how everything is developing etc. and to make sure there is no hyperstimulation to my ovaries. Curious to know if you've looked at this as an option. I'm assuming you're charting, temping......etc... all that other good stuff??
HTH, let me know if you have any questions I can try and answer for you and GOOD LUCK!
Julie
Good luck and tons of baby dust your way!

Julie-
I am charting my temps and cm, but only just started in August. I stopped taking b/c in 2001 and in Jan. of this year, we decided to "just see what happens". I went to see my OB/GYN in June and she said she wanted us to chart, and really try for 3 months and if nothing happened by then, to come back in for tests. So, our appointment is scheduled for Oct. 17, and we are patiently awaiting its arrival. Currently we are not on any meds, but they may change in the near future. Last month I ovulated late in my cycle, on CD19, so Clomid may be an option for me. I noticed last month that my temps were still slightly low after ovulation, and was wondering if my progesterone amounts were too low to sustain a PG. Do you know anything about that? I may have some questions regarding clomid if they decide that I should be taking it. Thanks again for your support! So much luck to you this month!! LOTS OF BABY DUST AND STICKY VIBES!!!
