Need advice about sperm analysis

My name is Lizzy and I have been a lurker for awhile. My husband and I have been trying for 8 months to conceive our first child. I am getting very discouraged about the whole thing. So far we have done temping, opk's, pre-seed, soft-cups, fertilaid, and our own mixture of vitamins (CoQ10, etc). I have pretty regular cycles of about thirty days, give or take a day or two. I consistently get positive opk's on day 14/15.
I am concerned about my husband's sperm count and would like to get it checked out. He is on a low dose of an antidepressant and I have heard that they can significantly affect sperm count. He is also overweight (we are working on it). I just feel like with all of the things we have been doing to help nature along in addition to my seemingly healthy cycles, we should have conceived by now. I would rather go ahead and find out if there is something wrong than continue to try if there is no chance.
So finally to my question! Our insurance does not cover ANY infertility, including diagnosis. I have heard that an out of pocket sperm analysis can run about $300 but didn't know what steps I needed to take to get one done. Do I need to make an appointment with an RE? One of the main reasons I am wanting to start with the SA is because it is so much cheaper than all of the tests they would likely perform on me and would rule out a major area of concern. If I make an appointment with an RE, will they want to test me too or will they start with just him? And finally, how much does a typical RE visit run without insurance? I have thought about calling the clinic where RE's send people for a SA but didn't know if I was allowed to call and set up my own appointment and if that $300 would include a discussion of the findings.
SO SORRY for this novel. I just don't know where to start! I appreciate any advice!
