OK i here you awesome ladies talking about taking your temperature i'm guessing its to pin point your exact ovu day but i want more info on that. Are there special thermometers to buy? if so, where? I have also heard of ovu predictor kits...are those any good? I'm TTC and this last time i thought i was prego but i got AF yesterday and i'm very sad because i felt all these prego symptoms and in addition AF was 2 days late. I want to do everything i can to get it right this next time around so if any of you gals can help me with some info, suggestions, opinions....will be greatly appreciated.

Hello fellow TTC'r and good luck!

I cannot answer on your Ovulation Kit question, as I've never used one, but can answer regarding the thermometer. I use a digital thermometer which measures to the tenth. Some you'll find measure to the hundredth (2 places beyond the decimal). As long as you use the same thermometer and try to take it @ the same time every day, any over the counter -digital- is fine. The old mercury ones are being discontinued anyway. It's best used in combination w/ all your other "body checks" like cm, cposition etc.

Best of luck!

OK Babe you're in the same boat as me.. I tried last month on my honeymoon and was pretty upset when I started July 17. However!!! I started taking matters in my own hands. There IS a special thermometer you can buy. It is called a Basal theremometer. Get it at grocery store like Meijer or Walmart if you have those or pharmacies. Next go to your local library ( If you have one ) and get the book -Taking Charge of Your Fertility- by Toni Weschler. Oh yeah, while at the store grab an ovulation kit. You can grab some baby oil to use as lube to because everything else kills sperm. Even KY Jelly!!! I started tracking my temp a few days ago and I'm seeing a pattern already. I took the ovulation test yesterday and found that I am fertile now!!! They are a good thing to have and also very accurate. Much more than taking your temp. Well I hope I've helped some.. I know lots more because I have three fertilty books in front of me... so don't be afraid to ask again!!!

GE! If you haven't checked your cp and cm, here are two great websites that explain the cycle and what they do throughout.

I hadn't heard about using a regular thermometer, but go for it..I bought a digital basal body temperature thermometer in the drug store near the hpt's for about $10- came with instructions and tips on charting. Here are two websites you can log onto for free to chart your temperatures. I prefer Fertility Friend myself, but they're both really good.
