We just decided to start trying at the beginning of Sept, so I am new to all of this.
I sleep with my BBT under my pillow and when my alarm goes off, it shove it in my mouth and walk the couple steps to my alarm and turn it off and sit there for the few seconds it takes for my temp to come out.
I have been temping for years. at first i stressed about that - but by now i know that i personally can have a bad night sleep, get up, start a load of laundry, pee, temp, and it will be about the same as if i temped right away. in my opinion, getting up to cross the room and then temp will NOT make a huge difference. Depends on the person tho i guess, so why dont you temp before the alarm, then after you get up, and see if it is different. If it is the same or very close, than just temmp after rising from then on. does your therm register hundredths? even better. More leeway.
i am lucky that my Temps shift a LOT after i ovulate, so a tenth of a degree wont make much difference anyway from day to day.. most people's temps do shift a lot after ovulation, i am not unique in this. but SOME people have such a slight shift, that they have to temp very carefully. You'll know after you temp for one cycle, what your typical temps are, and how much you can play around with temping.
