I've been lurking for a while but haven't posted yet. We've been trying for a year now for our first child, with no luck. I am fairly certain I'm ovulating regularly - I've used an ovulation predictor and can recognize the physical symptoms. I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm almost 35, so I'm staring to get concerned. I went to the doctor to discuss fertility and she scheduled me for several tests. I'm going in for a blood test tomorrow, and will do an HSG radiology test, where they inject a dye and X-ray your uterus. I've heard it's painful. Has anyone had this done before?

I've had a rough week. I was 3 days late and was hopeful, even when the test was negative, because I thought perhaps I had just tested too early. But my period came the other day. So I'm pretty down about the whole thing. I hope the tests don't indicate anything serious.

((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))to you. You are in good company here. I have been ttc for over a year, and also have a specialist appt scheduled next month. I hope everything goes well for you and you get some answers. I'm so sorry AF played that cruel game with you this month.

Welcome! I'm sorry you've had such a rough time, but you're definitely in good company here. I've been ttc for over a year now and just started fertility testing with my dr. I had an HSG done last month, and while it wasn't pleasant, it really wasn't that bad either. If you're interested, here's a link to a post I wrote a few weeks ago describing my experience:

((((HUGS))))) We haven't been trying quite as long as you but I am going thru similar things. AF never came this month, did PG Test - came out negative. My DH & I were disappointed and a little frustrated. Hang in there and good luck.

Welcome and ((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))! I'm sorry that af was mean to you by not showing on time. Has DH had a s/a done yet? Maybe it's more him than you? I have not had an HSG, but have read many women post that it wasn't too bad, so I wish you luck there! Maybe this would be of comfort..it took DH and I 19 months to conceive DS. Hang in there Sweetie! Keep posting! LOLove, Connie

Thanks for all of the encouragement! These were my first electronic ((HUGS)), and WOW they felt good. I don't have many girlfriends right now - new in town and spending too much time with DH I guess. So it's nice to have some female support!

DH is supposed to go in for a s/a, but it will be hard to get him to make the appointment! HSG is on Monday. I'm not to nervous....yet!

Welcome out of lurkdom, I wish you the best on the test and in the end I am sure that you will be happy you did not wait any longer. It can be so stressful TTC but keep that chin up and I am sure you will get that BFP real soon. Keep us posted.

Hugs to you. I'm glad that you came out of lurkdom. Having the support of others going through the same process can be such a big help. I don't really have any good advice for you, but just wanted to say welcome and wish you the best of luck with the tests. -Anne

I just had an HSG on Friday. Its not too bad. I was very scared because I am a huge wimp when it comes to pain. The weird thing is it feels just like menstrual cramps. I took 2 advils about 45 minutes before the procedure, and 2 advils after. The advil cured the pain of the cramping feeling.

Its kind of a cool procedure. You can see the dye go into the uterus and spill into the fallopian tubes. I learned the fallopian tubes are the size of dental floss! Amazing. Anyway, good luck to you!
