New to the board and need some help

Hello all. Well, I'm new here from the "Am I Pregnant" board, which means, I wasn't. Here's my story. My dh and I started ttc#2 in August. I've always been very regular (27-28 days). Well, like I said, this month we started trying and, low and behold, I was late, not just by a couple of days, but by 7 days. I was testing negative, but with my first, I didn't test positive until 2 weeks post AF. So, I just assumed after about the 5th day no AF I was pg since I'm usually very regular. Well, to my dismay, AF came knocking this morning. I've been very upset and sad all day. My dh, who's out of town til Monday says we'll just try again next month. I know that, and when we started trying I didn't expect to get pregnant right away, but when my body tricked me and didn't start til 7 days post AF, it upset me. I would have been fine if I would have started on time, it was the false hope that got me.

Anyway, I'm starting to feel a little better and looking forward to next month, but I think I want to start charting and I'm even thinking about an OPK. Any advise on how to do either or what's best? Do I have to get a special thermometer for charting my temp? Any hints or tips? I was going to just let nature take it's course for the first few months, but after the long wait this month, I'm not sure I can go through it again. So, I kinda want to know I'm doing everything I can and just not taking a stab in the dark.

Also, I think I know what cd means and also dpo, but what does just c stand for?

Any advise or help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Susan

Hi and welcome,

I bought a BD brand digital Basal Body Temperature thermometer. It is really cool, beeps when its done, and has a light (great, because you have to take your temp before you move first thing in the am). My BBT came with TCOYF/Ovusoft software to chart.

I am also charting on fertilityfriend.com, as many of us here do. I find it helpful, and they include a fertility advisor.

I am not using OPKs yet, but many ladies here are.

Try www.fertilityfriend.com this website helps you chart your bbt's and gives great info. I also like www.babyzone.com also lots of great info and charting. They make BBT thermometers, but you don't necessarily need one. A regular thermometer will due, just remember to take your temps first thing in the AM before doing anything at all. As for OPKs there are a ton out there and can be a little tricky to learn to read at first, but used with you BBT can give you a really good idea of when you'll O. Once you see a positive on the OPK, you should O in the next 24 to 36 hours. Abbreviation help: dpo-days post ovulation, c-cycle (what cycle of TTC you are on), cd-what day in your cycle it is (day 1 is the first day of AF). Hope this helps. I'll be lurking here for a bit longer if you anymore questions. I've been TTC#1 for 2 years so I feel full of knowledge I wish I didn't have.
