Hi everyone,
My DH and I are justing beginning our venture to TTC for #1 (yay!!) and I have a silly question. I am not very well versed or organized when it comes to O charting or taking the time to do temps everyday... (at least at this point in the game).

Do you think charting is necessary at my stage or should we just BD like crazy? LOL Meaning, if I ovulate on suspected day 14, we BD every day or every other day from the 10th - 18th? Thanks in advance and best of luck to you all!

Welcome
First, do you know that you normally ovulate around day 14, or are you assuming that because that's what you read somewhere?
Thanks for answering. I was just using "Day 14" as an example of length of BD time. I will look into learning all I can about charting to optimize my timing but was just curious if anyone else doesn't chart. My DH and I sure like to BD LOL!! SO, I figured if charting or not, it's the same procedure! Thanks again, this seems like a wonderful, positive place to be.
Yep, there are lots of people here that don't chart -- or at least don't temp.
I think that since you are newly of the pill, and you really never know how your body is going to act. After I got off the pill after 5 years, my cycles were all wacky, and still are. But my cycles were like that before the pill. How were yours? They said that you usally go back to how you were before the pill, but sometimes it takes awhile. Anyway, I would just start charting for a couple of months to see when you ovulate, and then stop. I also thought that temping and all that stuff would get to be a bother, but it's actually not, and it has so many benefits. I also highly recommend the book Taking Charge of your Fertlity. It is excellent.
Good Luck!!

I also highly recommend Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It is available at most bookstores like Books-A-Million, etc., or you can get a copy online. The website for the book and software is www.ovusoft.com. A lot of women get the book and use www.fertilityfriend.com to chart because it is free. It doesn't follow the same rules, but you can make your own judgment calls and just use it as a visual aid. Some women just chart on paper.
Even if you have a 28-day cycle, there is no guarantees that you are O'ing on Day 14. I've had a couple of 27 days cycles during which I O'd on day 18.
Regular BD'ing is the key for the average couple to get pregnant. If you don't want to chart, just keep track of your period and BD regularly. If you aren't pregnant in about 4 months or so, then you might want to start charting. If you are more anxious to become pregnant, charting might help you conceive more quickly.
I wish you luck!
