Is O during or after LH surge?

I'm a litte confused. When you are using OPK and you get a positive result showing LH surge, will you ovulate during or after the surge? Does the surge come first then ovulation? Once you get a negative OPK can you just assume you have already O'd? For example, say you did an OPK test on Friday and Saturday and got positives both days, but on Sunday, you got a negative. Can you assume that you ovulated sometime during those two days that the tests were positive or do you ovulate right after the surge (even though the OPK is saying negative) like on Sunday?

Thanks for your help

Hi, Susan. The LH surge occurs between 24-36 hrs before O. So if you got a positive on Fri & Sat and a negative on Sun, you probably O'd late Sat or early Sun. It is possible to O on a day that you get a negative OPK (if you had a positive the day before). HTH.

Well Susan I'm so glad that I'm not the only one that is so confused about everything. I'm finding out things that I never new about my body. It is such a bigger process trying to get pg than I ever thought. I did 2 OPK yesterday, one at 11:30am & one at 6:00pm. So I'm guessing that I O'd today or maybe tonight sometime, maybe even in the morning. Oh well, I guess just bd as much as we can during this time and just hope for the best. I know you're playing the waiting game now, so I hope everything works out.
