O PAIN! ANYONE ELSE? NEED INFO!

I've been discussing this matter with another member from the board (Wendy) who like me, every month feels a pinch/pain either on her left or right side (usually right in my case). Althought this only happens to 20% of women, and is a blessing because we do know for a fact that we actually are ovulating, a question has come up in my mind. Does the pinch/pain indicate that ovulation is taking place OR does the pinch/pain indicate stimulation to the ovary in order to ovulate (O would then take place 24-48 hours later). Doctors are split between the two and since I do not chart I cannot tell if pinch/pain is indeed day of O. Does anybody else feel this pinch/pain every month and charts therefore has an understading about when they actually O?

Please help.

Thanks.

Hi...

Like I posted below... my Dr said that the pains are from the ovary MAKING or having the egg. Its like a blister on the ovary, with the egg inside. Depending on how large the egg is, will depend on how much pain you feel. I had two eggs, sizes were 26 & 28 and they caused me pains... I asked him why it hurt, he said that they were rather large eggs and would cause me minor discomfort. He then said, that after their release, I may feel slightly "tender" on that ovary for a day or two. Which today.. the pains are gone and its just slightly tender. So I know they have been released. My surge started on Tuesday and has ended today as my OPT is negative today.

It is correct that some women can "feel" the release.. He said that OPT tests were a way for women to find the surge.. and should use them after they first feel the "pains" to find the surge of LH hormone. That the egg is usually released 12-36 hrs AFTER the surge is detected.

So.. of course every Dr is different.. there is no EXACT science on this subject...

I hope that this helps ya out!!!

Nanci,

Thanks for having taken the time to post. I actually started a new discussion in case anyone else who feels the pinch/pain could help us out. As I posted below, I have read from recent research that pinch/pain is from release, so, I do not know what to believe anymore. If I do not conceive this month, I think it will be OPK for me in order to determine what day O takes place accoring to pinch/pain.

So, basically, you're saying that you feel the pain and THEN O? When did you BD? Did you start BD'ing after pain or before?

I guess I do not want to miss my egg this month and since I am on CD10, I think it can happen anytime.

By the way, on my first cycle (last month) of TTC I BD'ed two days BEFORE pain and two days AFTER pain and obviously, it did not happen for me.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi. I do have O pain every month. Last month was my first month charting and the way it appears for me is that I had the pain right in the window of O. I'm guessing on the later side of the 24hours. I had the pain sunday morning, I think I O'd late sunday. Am I making sense? LOL

hehe.. yep.. you feel the pain... then ya ovulate.. (at least thats how its been with me so far, and everyone IS different) and I did that with my opt's this month.. and you can see it too.. here's my chart...

FF says the ovulation was CD12, but thats not possible due to the opt testing. and the fact that they were there on Monday when I had the u/s and had pains the next day!! So.. I have overrode the FF and made the ovulation day CD14.

I had pains starting on Sunday.. Monday.. alot on Tuesday... then there were some yesterday.. and today nothing. See the relationship with that and the OPT testing?
