O'ing during period?

Hello all:)

I have a question. This is my first month charting and I am just trying to get a handle on it and taking my prenatals, etc for the next couple months before I start actually trying to conceive. But here is the Q... Can someone ovulate while on their period?

The only reason I ask is my period ended in spotting this morning and now, 11:45am, my cervical fluid is plentiful and of eggwhite consistancy - its clear but stretches between my thumb and forefinger. This morning, my BBT shot from 97.2 to 97.8, but I assumed that had to do with the fact that suddenly we are having a heatwave and I woke up hot. Plus, fertilityfriend.com said it wasn't uncommon for someone's bbt to shoot up during their period.

Anyway, this is all new, so if anyone has any insight, I would appreciate it.

I am writing everything down so I am ready when November hits:)

From all my research in my fertility books, online and experience, it's highly unlikely to ovulate while on your period. It's tough to read your cervical fluid as a sign without charting it for a couple months. I know it stinks to wait but usually around month 3, you'll start to see a pattern in your CM and be able to better know your body and when your CM changes from after period to the point of ovulation and what it does before AF. I can't help you with the temps but I have heard women say that heat waves and waking up during the night among other things can give you a wonky temp. I would chart your CM and just keep watching it over the next couple weeks. Good Luck!

I'm not sure if this is right, I'm still pretty new at all of this. But I think you can get several rounds of ewcm. At least a few times I have. I noticed that when I'm drinking soy or eating more tofu or tempe, I get more as I believe that soy can mimic estrogen. This month it seems like I have gotten 3 or 4 stretches of ewcm but only one OPK+. According to countdown topregnancy.com: "the hormone estrogen is involved in the production of ewcm... it's produced as a response to increases in estrogen levels". But they talk about it at O and then a week or so later.

I agree with these lovely ladies. Luckily you've got a few months of practice to figure all this fun stuff out ;)
