Okay, give me the run down on Clomid please!

If I'm out this month, which I should know in a few days, my doctor wants to start me on 50 mg of Clomid for several days at the beginning of my cycle. Tell me the good, the bad and the ugly about Clomid! Side effects? Success stories? Has anyone taken it in addition to progesterone? I think this is as far as I'll go with medical assistance and TTC. I'm already on progesterone, and I knew I'd be willing to try Clomid, but I don't know how invasive I want to get after this. Hopefully I won't have to think about it!!

My DD was conceived after my first round of Clomid. I had no side effects at all, though I freaked myself out reading about what it may affect (like thyroid). For that reason, I was glad it worked quickly and I didn't have to take it again for another cycle. We're trying to go au naturale this time (without Clomid) unless I stop ovulating every month like last time. I did not take it with progesterone, so I can't help you with that.

Good luck with Clomid. It's a good and inexpensive alternative to the more invasive procedures, and I hope it works for you!

My dr. told me most people take the clomid right before bedtime to minimize any side effects....I think some of the side effects can be like hot flashes, upset stomach, constipation, can't remember other ones. I did 100 mg my first time and had no side effects (took it for 5 days CD4-8). I was also on the progesterone supps. It only took that one month on it and it worked for me. I hope this is your month, but if not I'd give the clomid a go. Will your dr. be monitoring you? I was seeing the RE so she did a ultrasound CD12 to see what my follicles looked like (I was petrified of having triplets since I know two friends who got preggo w/trips on clomid). I only had 1, possible 2 mature follicles so I was okay to move forward with that cycle. The nice thing about them at least doing an ultrasound is so if there happens to be multiple follicles like 3 or more you can decide to not try that cycle if you're afraid of the multiples factor. Oh yeah, and has DH has his sperm checked? Sometimes they make you do that before starting the clomid, which is prob a good idea so you don't try the clomid if there's a sperm issue anyway. Oh, one side effect I did have was feeling really dry down there...I was really worried that I had no cervical mucus and that the sperm wouldn't be able to get to where it needed to be. But, even though I felt SO dry I guess things were fine. good luck!
