Okay. Some of you have maybe read my threads before. 7 days late on a regular 27-28 day cycle, started AF on Friday (CD34) but it was not really a typical period.

Well, I was still feeling some symptoms today so I though I would just take a hpt to be sure. All my hpt's (FRE) I took before AF came came out negative, but I thought, what the heck, I have friends coming in from out of town on Thursday and we'll probably have cocktails, so it wont hurt. Plus, I still feel some symptoms that if they were PMS should be gone by now. Anyway, took the test and got a faint positive.

So now what do I do? MY AF is usually heavy first 3 days then slowly tapers off on days 4 and 5. However, this month, semi-heavy on day 1 (red blood), then practically non-existant on days 2 and 3 then very spotty on days 4 and 5 (day 5 color was brown). Today even, day 6, comes with some brown tinge when I wipe.

Could this be a m/c (no strong cramps)? Could I have a false positive test? If I am pg, do you think the baby is okay? I stopped thinking I was pg so I wasn't eating the best and I did have a couple of drinks. Could AF cause a false positive?

Please help!

Hi there,

Just calm down and relax. You probably didn't do any harm. As for the period-like symptoms, I've heard it can be common for women to have that during pregnancy. I think as long as it's light and not accompanied by severe cramps and heavy bleeding you're just fine.

Make an appointment to see your doctor as soon as you can just so you can ease your mind and start enjoying being pregnant!

Congratulations!!

Susan, I had a full period the first month I was pregnant - 7 days with heavy flow. I didn't find out I was pg until I missed the 2nd month. Did your test line stay after 10 minutes? Just make sure it wasn't an evaporation line. I would call the doc and schedule an HPT in his office. Don't worry about the bleeding, it's more commmon than you think. My son came out perfectly healthy.

Kristin and Julie. Thank you both so much. Just talking about it helps me get through some of this anxiety.

Okay, here's what's going on. I called my OB/GYN this morning and talked to the nurse. I told her the whole story about how I thought I was, then wasn't, now the +hpt but after AF. She said that I could either be having an early m/c, or I was bleeding through a viable pregnancy. She wanted me to go and get a BETA HcG blood test which I did this morning around 10:30. I'm suppose to get the news this afternoon. They want to test the level of HcG.

I'll keep you posted.

Susan

P.S. Thank you Julie for the info about your son. I'm so excited that I may be pg, (if I'm not m/c-ing) but I'm worried about the bleeding. I never had any bleeding with my ds.

Susan, call your Dr.'s office and go get a PG test there so you'll know difinitively and stop driving yourself mad. Everyone on the board can give you their thoughts and opinions but I think at this point you ought to go see your Dr. GL to you and hope you get the answer you want.

Susan, just to let you know, I did call my OB/GYN and I got a BETA HcG taken this morning. I'll be getting the results in about 30 minutes. I'm suppose to call at 3:45 p.m. The nurse sent me for the BETA because she said that I'm either having or had an early m/c or I'm bleeding through a viable pregnancy. She said that the BETA test would test the level of the HcG and that would tell us what's going on.

I'll let you all know soon. Hopefully it's good news.

Thanks for all the support and advise.
