Hi everyone! I'm a newbie here and me and my dh will shortly be ttc #1. I am stopping bcp next week and will be starting to chart. Boy, I never thought I'd be so excited for AF to come! I have two questions about charting. First, if I have a regular digital thermometer that will read at every tenth of a degree, do I need to go out and buy a special one? Second, how important is it to check CP during your cycle? I don't think I am too comfortable doing that (don't know why- it just gives me chills thinking about it). TIA for your advice!

Welcome to the group and good luck! I hope you don't stick around long. (hehe no offense)

I use a regular digital thermometer. I've never seen a basal one and I think they are more expensive anyway. I also don't check CP. More because of laziness than anything. It's just one more thing you can use to see how your cycle is going. I guess it depends on how much luck you have with the other things you can check.

I have used the regular and the BBT Them. I have seen a difference of about 2 points between the two wich can actually change things. The BBT themometor is only $9.99, so it might be worth it if you want to.

As far as CP, I don't check either, but I have noticed that around "O" BDing is a little uncomfortable, because of the position(dropped down) the cervix is in.

Best of luck!!
