OPK and lines ....

Grrrr ... I have been using OPK test strips for three cycles now due to short AF (21-24 days). Each time I get a line (not the test line) ... It is FAINT. The next day I test ... NOTHING. Oh, I usually start testing the day my period ends.

I usually get the line 10-11 days into my cycle and my period is 11-12 days later ...

Any ideas?? I just don't understand the faint line one day and nothing the next (or for the rest of my cycle for that matter)

I have been off the pill for almost 6 months now.

Have you tried taking them at different times of the day? I was taking them in the afternoons and seem to get darker lines then. Try taking 2 a day if possible. I order my OPK test trips and pg tests for a quarter a piece through a co-op so it's pretty cheap.I know some have had problems but they have worked wonderfully for me and all others in the co-op using them.

Yvonne-

I have the same problem as you. I have a 24 day cycle and O on CD14. I don't get dark lines on my OPK either, but a faint one is usually there 2-3 days before I O. Maybe it has something to do with our short cycles. I've discussed this with my Doctor and she said my temps definitely signal that I'm Oing. So she told me, if they don't work for you, don't use them. She said OPKs are good signals, but we shouldn't rely on them completely.

I hope this helps. Are you charting?

IF you only get a faint line, that is probably the positive for you. It sounds like you may have lower LH or you could have dilute urine. Try holding it longer or test at different times of the day. I agree with the last poster that you could test twice a day the next month to see if that helps. But I would consider the darkest line you get as positive.

Hope this helps,
