OPK line question..
| Fri, 08-08-2003 - 10:21pm |
I am still waiting to hear from my dr. about results on my sono and bloodwork to see if I have PCOS, I won't hear anything until Tues...I have been off BCP since Apr and have not had a regular cycle since, nor have I been Oing. I had watery cm today, which I don't think I've ever had, so I broke down and spent $ on an OPK. I took the first one today, cd11, and got a faint line. Is this line always there? Does this mean I will O this month? Or is the line only there before O? I only have 6 more, so I will use them every other day. I have no idea if/when I'll O. My cycles vary from 22-40 days. They have gotten shorter each month, so I just don't know what to expect! Here is my chart so far...please let me know about OPK line. Thank you so much!!

Good luck

If I were you, I would take the test EVERY day. I know it can be expensive, but there is a chance that you'll miss the LH surge (which causes a + OPK test). Some people have + results for two days in a row, others for only one day. If you are one that only has a single + test, (which is pretty common), then by testing every other day there's a decent chance you could miss the surge and then be frustrated because you didn't think you O'd when you really might have! For me the line usually gets darker towards the peak and then I have one or two positive tests, and then it gets lighter. Anyway, this is just my two cents...hope it helps! As Imani said...when all else fails, just keep on BDing!!!! LOL!
Another thought - do you temp? I found that this was very useful after coming off BCP. Combining temping with OPKs gave me a very clear picture of what was going on. It took my body 4 months to get back to normal...but now I am 4 weeks pg :) So, try not to be frustrated...it will happen for you. It really does take some people's bodies a little while to get back to normal.
BTW - be sure that you're NOT using FMU for the OPK tests. Usually it's best to test in the afternoon :) But when you're using an HPT to get that BFP, be sure to use FMU!!!
Let us know what happens...GL!!!
Cheers!
