OPK line question..

I am still waiting to hear from my dr. about results on my sono and bloodwork to see if I have PCOS, I won't hear anything until Tues...I have been off BCP since Apr and have not had a regular cycle since, nor have I been Oing. I had watery cm today, which I don't think I've ever had, so I broke down and spent $ on an OPK. I took the first one today, cd11, and got a faint line. Is this line always there? Does this mean I will O this month? Or is the line only there before O? I only have 6 more, so I will use them every other day. I have no idea if/when I'll O. My cycles vary from 22-40 days. They have gotten shorter each month, so I just don't know what to expect! Here is my chart so far...please let me know about OPK line. Thank you so much!!

I know it gets expensive but I would test everyday, if you test every other day you might miss a positive test. Just a thought.

Hi Sarah!

If I were you, I would take the test EVERY day. I know it can be expensive, but there is a chance that you'll miss the LH surge (which causes a + OPK test). Some people have + results for two days in a row, others for only one day. If you are one that only has a single + test, (which is pretty common), then by testing every other day there's a decent chance you could miss the surge and then be frustrated because you didn't think you O'd when you really might have! For me the line usually gets darker towards the peak and then I have one or two positive tests, and then it gets lighter. Anyway, this is just my two cents...hope it helps! As Imani said...when all else fails, just keep on BDing!!!! LOL!

Another thought - do you temp? I found that this was very useful after coming off BCP. Combining temping with OPKs gave me a very clear picture of what was going on. It took my body 4 months to get back to normal...but now I am 4 weeks pg :) So, try not to be frustrated...it will happen for you. It really does take some people's bodies a little while to get back to normal.

BTW - be sure that you're NOT using FMU for the OPK tests. Usually it's best to test in the afternoon :) But when you're using an HPT to get that BFP, be sure to use FMU!!!

Let us know what happens...GL!!!

Cheers!

Thanks girls!! I am undecided about OPK every day or not, I guess I will just see what happens this afternoon, how my cm looks, if I will test again today or not. I know I should, but $ is tight now, and I was just doing a little "retail therapy" yesterday after being so stressed about not hearing from Dr. Last night I had EWCM, but it was during a state of arousal, (sorry, TMI). Does that count? I don't think I have ever gotten EWCM in the past few months even during that state. So, I will check cm later, if it is still like that or close to it. If so, then I will do another OPK, hopefully the line will be darker!! =) Thanks for the advice!

Sarah

Oh, I have been temping for the past 3 months of the four that I have been off BCP, here is my chart..

I test everyday because I got off BCP's in late July. I have only a faint line which is not a postive O in progress. I'd say BD every chance you get and test every day :D Good luck!

You don't have to spend a lot on OPK's or HPT's. There are lots of online sites that sell them for CHEAP! For example, at www.saveontests.com, you can get 20 OPK test strips for $11.05. That's CHEAP!! And the more you buy, the better the prices are. There are other sites, too. Just do a search for "cheap pregnancy tests". That should help you find them. Last time I was TTC, I used both the strip OPK's and the strip HPT's. I bought lots and tested all the time! LOL I don't remember where I got mine, but they worked fine. Most sites have the strips, the cassettes, and the midstream type tests. I hope this helps!
