OPK question

I just started charting on FF, and based on my average cycle length, etc, it's estimating that I will ovulate on Friday. I've been doing the Answer brand OPKs (the one that comes 20 in a pack and you test every day) and they never seem to get any darker. Are they supposed to get darker the closer you get to ovulating? Mine have all definitely been neg. I also tried the Clearblue test with the smiley face today, and that's neg. as well. So I clearly have no LH surge yet, and my question is this....I know the tests say that a positive result means that you will ovulate anywhere from 12-48 hours from then. Does this mean I am AT LEAST 48 hours away from ovulation?

A positive OPK detects your LH surge, which is supposed to occur 12-48 hours before ovulation.
Hi Ambinsi,
I am having the opposite reaction to the Answer brand, I only started using them this cycle and I had gradual surge each day close to O ,but today is 4 dpo for me and I still have the line being darker than the control line as soon as I finish testing and I do not know if this is normal or if it is because I test with the fmu.
