OPK question (not a normal one)

I say not a normal one because I know these OPK questions are asked all the time! I have a basic understanding of how the OPK works but was hoping someone could expound upon it..
So is it possible to get a line (other than the ocontrol line) every day of your cycle? Because yesterday I was on CD 8 and got a line half as dark as the control line. So in my twisted logic, I should get a dark line in a day or 2 so that we mean I'd O in 3-5 days, lol. Is that even close to right or is it that I just got a line that has nothing really to do with Oing? I've taken a few OPKs before, once before I even expected to O, and got no line. THe other 3 times I got lines, but it was after I O'd. I never actually tried to use an OPK to predict ovulation (since I was sure my cycle was messed up and I think I was afraid that I'd never get a real line so then I'D lose hope of conceiving that month.)
Anyway, thanks in advance!
Camille

OPKs test for luteinizing hormone, which you always have present in your system. You have a spike of it right before O, so you could get a light line every single day of your cycle, but should only have a line darker than the control line when you're about to O.

Thanks Cassie! :) I figured that was it but I was holding out hope that it meant my line would be darker tomorrow, and then as dark as the control line by the next day so that we could catch this egg before my husband deploys again. Oh well!
Thank you again!

Yeah, I knew that about Oing 12-36 hours after getting the dark as/darker than control line, I was saying that I was hoping that if I got a half as dark line yesterday, that it would mean that I would O in 3-5 days. I was just being silly/hopeful.
Thanks tho.
