opk test used to test for pg

I would like to take a poll. How many women out there have used OPK's to test for early pg.

How many women have come up positive and was pg? How many turned up positive not to be pg.

The reason why I ask, is that I think I could be pg. I am only at 9DPO I took a pg test BFN. 2 days ago for fun I took an OPK, negative. I took one today and there was a line... light but there was a line where there wasn't 2 days ago. I just want to figure out if I am fishing for chance. I am not patient . I have had a few symptoms that I never have before AF. AF is due in 3 days but for the past 5 I have had tingling bbs and nipples, cramps and it feels as if AF is coming but not. I usually don't get AF symptoms until 3 days before AF is due so this is entirely different this month.

ANy feedback I can get will help pass the time until AF arrives or I get a BFP!

Thanks!

Janet

Janet, to know if you are pregnant using OPK's, you are supposed to use them more than once. For example, I used one on 8dpo-no line, then used one on 10dpo-faint line, then used one on 11dpo-darker line. Used an HPT on 12dpo and got a positive. The lines on the opk's should get darker and darker as you go further into your cycle if you are pregnant. I found this on a website, but I have no idea which one. Good luck to you!

Jen,

That is good to hear since 2 days ago I had no line and today a light one. We will see in 2 days. This waiting stinks. I have been trying for 12 months. Had an HSG done this month and I am so hopeful this month it scares me. I don't know why this month I am hopeful I just to know one way or the other. I have nooooooo patience.\

Thanks!

Janet,

They say that there's an even better chance of getting pg after an HSG, so let's hope this is it for you! It took me 11 months to get pg, so I know how you feel. Sending you tons of +++++++++++ vibes! Let us know if that opk gets darker!

Janet,

NOT to be a total downer, but I had the same questions last month and did the same thing with the OPK as HPT and got the same results that you did and turned out to not be pg. SO, the experiment didn't work well for me, BUT, I KNOW it has worked for other people. If you keep testing with the OPK and your line gets darker every day, then that it supposed to be a good sign that you are pg! Good luck!

I'm confused. How does an OPK which measures LH hormone only used to get a positive pregnancy test? I thought the only time you had LH was when you are about to ovulate. Fill me in! I'm curious now. LOL

Michelle,

Here is a link that I found when I was looking into the whole thing. And if the link doesn't work, just go to google.com type in OPKs as HPT and a lot of stuff will come up for it. There is a logical explanation for why it can work, I just can't remember all the techincal terms and everything.

Me! I took an OPK at FMU 9dpo and saw a line. They are so much cheaper for me than HPTs. No line on the HPT, until a good day and a half later. Best wishes to you!
