Do OPK's really work? The cheap ones? I keep testing neg. so I am starting to wonder about them.

I have used the generic, store brands and have gotten good results from them. I used Answer this month, and don't think it worked that well. I have heard of some women using really cheap ones and them not working. Or, it could be that you O later than you expect. I know I've had a couple months when I had to get a second pack. Are you temping? If so, what do your temps say? I know it's very disheartening to keep seeing blank lines.

Good luck

I am not really that experienced with OPK's. Last cycle I used "Answer", this cycle I am using some I purchased online. They say one of the most common mistakes people make when using them is testing too early or too late in their cycle. My cycle has been a little out of whack so I am going to start testing as early as cd8, just to be safe. Sorry I could not be more help.

(I O later) I'll be sure to let you know how they work for me. Keep us posted with you too! I hope you get that BFP (on the OPK and the HPT) Good Luck!

What time of day are you testing? It's considered best NOT to use FMU; best test time is 2-5 pm with NON-diluted urine (that is, don't drink a ton of water in the 2 hours before you test). How do your charts look? If neither your charts nor your OPKs indicate ovulation, you might want to talk to your Dr.

Hi all. I just used an OPK for the first time this month...tried an expensive one (Clearblue Easy, cause it claims to be really reliable & gives you 7 test strips)...but all my strips were neg. But I think it was because my cycles are still all screwed up. I just came off the pill about 1 1/2 mos. ago, after being on it for 11 years, so it will take a little while to get regulated. I'll be starting a new OPK pack in about a week. I'll let you all know if it seems to work. Good luck to all TTC!!!!

2 cycles ago about 11 days after AF started I went in for a Ultra Sound (for a cyst that had ruptured). The tech said that by the size of my egg either I had already "O" or I was going to in a few days. (she told me not to have sex for 2 days) I bought the Clear Blue Easy OPK test that afternoon and took it the next morning. I had a faint blue line. The next day the line was fainter and even lighter the 3rd day. So, we missed it that cycle.

If we would have BD that night instead of waiting it may have worked.

This last cycle I started testing on day 5 (2 days after AF left) and on day 10 I got the dark blue line, so we BD like crazy. (we also had not done any pre-BD for 5 days while waiting for "O" to get there, trying to let the sperm build up) I also got the blue line on day 11 and then it started to get lighter.

12-13 DPO I got a BFP on a First Response Early PG test. So between waiting to have BD and finding out when I really "O" we did it right.

Good luck and keep a positive attitude. Sometimes you just have to try things a little different then everyone else.

I used the clear easy also for the first time this month. It

worked exactly like it said it would. I got the two lines on the 12th day.

It seemed to work well. Good luck to you!
