OK got my OPK's after O (I'm sure) last month so didn't use them (internet purchase). AF just showed up on Sunday, sooooo I'm a short cycler 22-25 days, when should I start testing with them and then how often should I use them?

TIA

I'm not an OPK expert but from what I've learned from other ladies on this board, I plan to start using mine (I have 10 strips) on day 10. With a shorter cycle, maybe you should start earlier? The kit I bought had a chart included with the instructions that had the recommended day to start testing based on your cycle length. It's at home but I could check tonight if you want. Have you opened your kits yet? Maybe yours has it too.

Good luck.

p.s. Another thing I learned from someone on this board is to *not* use FMU since it might give you a false positive. I'm going to start on day 10 and try to test at 5pm (right after work) each day.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents on this one as I was just dealing with this...I have a regular 25 day cycle. I started testing on day 8 (per OPK recommendation) and never had a positive, so I quit at day 15...figuring I didn't ovulate. Then, I put my charts on fertilityfriend.com and learned that I am ovulating cd 18 or 19. So, everyone is different, but I would highly recommend starting on the day it says in the information you get (I'm thinking it will be day 8 with your short cycle) and keep testing....so you don't miss the boat. And, if you're not charting, start. It is a great way to see your cycles in action and get a grip on what is happening with your body. I'd recommend FF.

Thanks so much for the great advise. I am staying away from charting because I am an obsessive person. If I start charting I'm going to go insane and most likely end up divorced LOL and Just Kidding. No seriously, I obsess too much already, and DH and I made a commitment to not get baby crazy or make sex become work. At this point, I'm just going to OPK. In a few months if we haven't had any results I'll start charting. I know I "O" because I've seen it on an US I had so I know they are producing just fine, its just timing my short cycle.

Thanks again :)
