Hi all,
I was wondering if there are any of you who have long cycles and use OPKs?

Hi all,

OPKS are hard no matter what. do you track CM? if you start to see EWCM, and you see many days of it, then that is a good place to start - the first day you see EWCM, start testing with OPKs, like 2 times a day, in the mid afternoon (not morning)
get cheapies off the internet. you can get like 50 of them for less than $20!! (on ebay) i have used seller 'iwannaknow' they are very good.
GL! i am short on time so i will check back, in case i am making no sense, LOL TTYL

Thanks for the reply.
I'm right there with you. Day 48 now and no AF. I quit my BC in August.
I think checking when you have EWCM is a good place to start!
Here is a cheap bunch! this is the person i have purchased from.

OOps--I tried to paste the link but it was too long, you just go to that seller link, and look for the lot of 50!!
you will have EWCM when your hormones fluctuate and your body is trying to O, but you might NOT ovulate, and then you'll have EWCM again, and posible ovulate later. it happens!!
and BTW, you might get a positive OPK, but that doesnt mean you will ovulate!! you just MIGHT. so temping is good, it confirms whether you did O or not, and then you can quit worrying about BDg, and you'll know to expect your AF (or test) in about 2 weeks.
GL!!!!

Hey there!!
I'm sorry about your long cycle....I usually have 45-48 days cycles so I can't imagine how frustrating a 101 day cycle is.
I'm certainly not a doctor, but I would think that if you are on day 101 you might need a doctors intervention to start AF. Chance are you aren't ovulating at all and that is why you are having such a long cycle. I had the same issue when I went off the pill, my doctor did some blood work last week to see what my hormones are doing, we are waiting for the results.
It might be helpful for you to get the bloodwork done and then you will know whats really going on.
Hi Julie,
I would probably call your doc and tell them what is going on.

Hi, I just wanted to say I am in the same situation. I went off bc in April and have had long cycles since. I have ovulated at various times, once at cd 39, once on cd62, cd 26 and now cd 39 w/ no O yet. I have also tried using OPKs and have found them unsuccessful. I bought those answer brand OPKs that have 20 in them and got false positives w/ them. Then I switched to the more expensive OPKs and got negatives each time w/ only one positive(hard to tell, I THINK it was about the same darkness as the control line but not quite sure. How annoying!) and that time I didn't O.
I think it's frustrating since OPKs are positive for only a small amount of time, it is all hit or miss. And hen you can get a positive OPK and not actually ovulate. I am trying just bding every time I see ewc instead of relying on OPKs. Then again, I haven't successfully gotten pregnant yet either, so who knows? Just seems like I waste a lot of money and energy on OPKs. Temping has been most useful and observing my cm. But you are right, with long cycles you also get ewcm throughout your cycle which is frustrating too. I hope both of our cycles shorten and regulate sometime very soon. Would make getting pg so much easier...
Wow.
