To Orgasm or Not to Orgasm???
| Mon, 10-06-2003 - 8:21am |
Hi ladies,
I'm just curious if anyone knows if having an orgasm increases, decreases, or is indifferent - your chances of getting pg.
I know when I do, my body creates a whole lot more fluid than when I don't. Is that fluid helpful or harmful to sperm?
Also, does your cervix or positioning of anything important move when you have an orgasm?
I've been avoiding them for some reason and so I am really getting the raw end of the deal... unless of course, I do end up pg! :-)
TIA.

Orgasm doesn't play a role in achieving pg., however, some studies do say that, it plays a big role in the gender of the pg. Boy or girl. I think, if you want a boy, have one. If you want a girl, don't. Hope this helps. Marcy

It looks like we'll be having another girl if we are pg! :-)
Man! So I could've been having fun all this time too! :-)
Honestly, sometimes I'm just like, "Honey, go ahead and go. I'm too tired to work that hard for one."
I can have one every single time we have sex, but it's WAY more work than what it takes for dh! Sometimes, it's just too much work for me! :-) LOL!
Thanks Marcy! We're building quite a friendship. It would be great if we both got our BFP's this month and were in the same Exp. board. :-)
Have a great day!

I can't remember the name of the show but its one of the ones on the Discovery channel documentary type things, it was saying that female orgasm could play a role in getting PG. It was really cool (and kindof gross) but they had one of those tiny camera's in the vagina it showed the sperm pooled right under the cervix, when she had the orgasm the cervix dipped in and out of the sperm, plus they said the contractions of the vagina/cervix/uterus could help move the sperm up into the fallopian tubes.
I know the Orgasm thing with boys vs girls is about moving the sperm to the egg, i.e. boy sperm are faster but die quicker and girl sperm are slower but live longer so by having or not having an orgasm you are either speeding up or impeeding their progress to the egg. And by that alone it is justification that an orgasm helps the sperm....
BUT HECK I just want A sperm to get to the egg, I don't care which it is LOL.
It was kinda cool to see.
Bethanee - if you can have one, I'd say have one!
DH and I are opposite from you guys, I'm faster to the finish than him. (Ok, tmi, I know.... ) LOL!

I happen to remember the night I got pg with DD and I know for a fact that DH and I orgasmed at the SAME time! That NEVER happened before but that is how it ended that night and sure enough I got PG! DH almost ALWAYS does before I do but the other night (just happened to be the day I "O"ed) I was able to first so I guess we'll see in a couple of weeks! I have read a ton of stuff that says the woman should orgasm in order to bring the sperm up into the cervix, but I have read some stuff that says the woman should first and others say the man should first. I have heard that the fluid from a woman having an orgasm is alkaline based and helps the "swimmers" out more. It is supposed to be a gentler environment for them. That is just what I have read. I hope it helps and no matter what you do, I hope it helps you to get that BFP soon!

If I'm not pg this month, then I'm going all the way all the time!!! :-) I had no idea there was such a + effect to it. Man!, what was I thinking! :-) LOL!
Thank you all! That was very informative and helpful!

Well, by all means have one!! If you can. I have to concentrate on "that" for it to happen. And like you, when I'm on my BD schedule, well, lets say, I'm tired a lot. And fatigue isn't one of the ingredients of an orgasm for me(LOL).
The reason I was so emphatic about my response to your "do you need an orgasm to conceive?" question was because I didn't with all 3 of my pregnancies. SO there ya have it. Have one if you can....it sounds like it may help your chances.
Will you test before you go to Ireland? If not, test there!! What a fantastic surprise for DH!! I also am hoping and praying that we end up on the June EC board together. It would be great!! But if you graduate and I don't...I still will be TOTALLY thrilled for you!!! Hoping and praying for your BFP!!! Take Care, Marcy

I do plan to test before we go. AFNW is on the 16th and we leave the night of the 17th.
But, because my DR's need to see me ASAP once I get that BFP, I'm going to be testing from 12 DPO onward. Otherwise, I might end up in another m/c if i don't get that progesterone shot. So, it's kind of a mess. I need that BFP early enough to get into the DR's to get that test and shot...
Also, I do plan on waiting to tell DH until the night of the 20th. We are staying in a castle the night of the 20th, so I plan to tell him there somehow! I need ideas!!!!!
Thanks for responding to my post everyone!

Befriend someone at the castle, tell them what you are going to do, ask them to take a "tourist" picture of you guys in front of something at the castle, Tell DH right when you are getting your picture taken by your "friend" that way you get a picture of when you tell him :) (if possible have them take a whole series of shots as you tell him ;)
Good luck, have fun, I've done London but not Scotland/Ireland, I want to do that on our next trip
So, have one, by all means, if you can!
