I'm not sure how long you are "supposed" to wait after, but I had a cyst removed one month and got pregnant the next. Apparently it made me quite fertile. :)

It really isn't that bad. I have had it done several times, every time laparascopically (through my belly button). I would make sure that you can rest plenty after the procedure, like-I made sure I had a week after to heal, just relax and DH helped with DD even more than usual. They'll give you pain meds too, so you won't have to suffer, and that's another reason to make sure you have some time, you'll be sleepy probably.
My advice--take a pillow with you in the car. That way on the drive home and walking in the house you can hold it against your tummy. That helped me. I used it when I got up a lot.
You'll be sore for a bit but all in all, it really is a simple procedure. :) Surgery is always scary but they'll give you stuff to calm you down before you go into the operating room and then when you wake up they'll make sure you aren't in a ton of pain. You'll most likely get to go home the same day if there are no complications and they do the procedure through the belly button like I was saying.

Good luck to you! KUP!

So glad this was asked/answered...I'm looking at the same thing. For me, though, I had abdominal surgery for something unrelated to fertility so my doc doesn't want to do the surgery - to avoid more scarring.

Doc suggested "draining" it "non-surgically". Am I right in guessing this means a needle? Not scared - just curious.
