We are not trying right now but if it happens it happens. But i chart and my last 3-4 cycles have been crazy 16 days 37 days 29 days. then today i was doubled over in pain and the ER said I have 4 ovarian cysts...That i need to go see my ob/gyn. I have read about this and worry i may have pcos. Will this cause me to have a real hard time having another baby? Oh and anyone with this problem did it show up later or always have it? One more how do you deal with the pain...

I had my first scope when I was 19 to have a cyst removed. I never had problems with them, however I didn't try to get pregnant for several years after that either. Now that we are TTC and I've been having IUI's done, often when i go in for my ultrasounds to predict ovulation a small odd cluster is seen on one ovary (the non-ovulating ovary). The doctor said based on their size he won't label them as cysts but we know for certain that's not the side I'm ovulating from, so what the heck are they, right? After about three IUIs he finally threw out the phrase PCOS. I'm now on Femara, thyroid meds, and Metformin (plus IUI and who knows what else). Now, the infertility hasn't been blamed on PCOS but it hasn't been ruled out either. Hopefully I'll find out more at this week's appts.

I was having irregular cycles there for awhile and my Dr. ordered an ultrasound and blood tests. I have had ruptured cysts before (like 8 yrs ago) and I was experiencing pain that was similar to what I felt then, but not as severe. The Dr. said the U/S showed a lot of little cysts, but my blood work showed no signs of PCOS. She did say the cysts could be causing irregular cycles even though I don't have PCOS. Thankfully my cycles seem to be regular these last two months so I'm hoping for the best now...

My SIL does have PCOS and after TTC for 6 months (she was on Metformin most of this time) she was put on Clomid and conceived the first cycle on that. She had her first child 3 years before that with no problems...

When I had the big cysts that ruptured before, I had to have prescription pain medicine to be able to handle the pain. I ended up in the ER a number of times for this. I would definitely make an apt to talk to your OB/GYN about this.
