Hello. These boards have been really helpful. Thank you. I have a questions though, it's prolly a silly one but who cares. I know that every woman is different when ovulating, but can a woman ovulate while she is on her period?

Thanks in advance

I'm not a doctor, but I'm pretty sure that can't happen. Unless the bleeding isn't really a period. You ovulate when an egg is released from an ovary, some women get cramps, but I don't think it's good to bleed. If the egg is unfertilized, hormones are triggered and tell your body to shed the uterine lining which is a period, this usually doesn't occur until 12-16 days after you ovulate. So I don't really think that you can ovulate while having an actual period. Hope that makes sense.

You can ovulate during period -- if you have a short cycle (21-22 days), you ovulate about day 7. Some people are still bleeding then -- anyway, the best time to BD if you want to conceive in that case is day 5-6, which for many women is during their period.
