Ovulation Pain

Hi all! I am happily married 32 year old mother of a beautiful 8 year old daughter and my husband and I have been trying to conceive since July. My question is, "Has anyone else experienced ovulation pain??" I don't think I'm very knowledgeable about what this means when it occurs because with our daughter, it was a surprise, so I thought I would be able to get pregnant the very first time we tried. I had been on the pill for the past 8 years so I didn't experience any pain when ovulating. Now I realize that that might be what this side pain is from and in the past 3 months whenever it's occurred, we abstained from sex because I was in pain. Should this be the time that we do try to conceive??? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello! We have been TTC since July too!

I don't know how much help I will be, but you certainly don't have to have pain around the time of O. I never have once, but have 2 sisters that do every month. Just from what I've heard, it's not too painful and doesn't last long at all. I'm sure others will chime in with more info for you. But I would suggest charting your temps and CM and see if the pain you have coincides with those. I would also talk with your Dr. because pain could mean something else.

Good luck!

I have pain around o. SOmetimes months worse than others. Lately I have even been getting breast tenderness which is odd for me. WHen I was younger I had pain on my side and the dr said it was from the cist rupturing which is normal around o and nothing to worry about. It was definately enough pain to mame me abstain, so its very possible thats what you are feeling. However, sometimes when you feel the pain, you probably have already o'ed, so dont rely on the way you feel to detect your fertile time.

I have always tended to experience pain at midcycle, on one side or the other (though not necessarily every month), which I suspected was due to ovulation. I started charting temperatures a few months ago and was able to confirm that the pain was occurring right at the same time as ovulation. I would recommend charting to see if that's the case with you. If so, you will want to bd at or before the time you experience the pain. Hope that helps!
