ovulation, time lines, cramps, pregnancy....?

Okay... I'm new here. I'm just looking for some advice I guess, or answers, or insight.

So, I use this iphone app to track my periods and I've been doing it for about a year. I havent been keeping a close eye on ovulation timing though, but my tracker says its a certain time every month. My period is usually 7 days long with 28-29 days in length. I don't usually have any symptoms of ovulation until this month.....

According to the tracker my fertile days are November 18-24 with ovulation happening on the 23.

I slept with my boyfriend on the 18, first fertile day, and the next day i had cramps - bad cramps and im guessing it was from ovulation? and the cramps continued until... well today I guess. so that's 5 days. not sure if thats normal. Anyway, Im wondering if i could be pregnant? I know sperm can live inside you for about 2-5 days? but, i may not have ovulated until the 23rd like the app said.... meaning nothing could have happened. I've read that you can get pregnant in the few days before ovulation - but.. how?

We slept together on the 18th, but ovulation doesnt occur until the 23.. but I had cramps on the 19 the day after we had sex. Whats the cramping about if Im not suppose to ovulate until the 23rd? Too many questions!!! Please help.

Oh, I've been cramping since the day after we had sex but from what i hear CM is usually clear and more like egg whites before you ovulate and I've only been experiencing the egg white CM for the past 2-3 days. Is it possible to ovulate before that ? I've also been feeling more nauseated and tired. ??

Hello! You can't rely on an app to tell you when you O. They just take averages & make educated guesses. I have an app that gets fairly close to my actual fertile window but is off by a few days on actual O (verified thru opk's /bbt temping)

Cramping pre-O is relatively common. You may experience it some cycles & not during others & cant use it as a reliable predictor of O. Generally you O the day after you last see ewcm. After O it tends to dry up or get sticky or creamy.

Is this your first cycle ttc?

Once we start ttc we start noticing every little thing. I know my cycles change up all the time & I experience different symptoms pre & post O. Who knows, maybe you did O early & what you are experiencing now is related to the increase in progesterone post O. Did you only dtd that one time?

Fx'd for beginners luck! Good luck

It's possible you could be pregnant but I wouldn't think you would feel symptoms that quickly. The symptoms you are having are almost identical to the one's I had last cycle and mine turned out to be caused by a rather large cyst on my left ovary. I'll keep you in my thoughts though and hope for a BFP soon for you!!

I do have a history of cysts and about 11 months ago had surgery to have a rather large one removed.

I am not longer having cramps, but just occasional sharp twinges of pain. I have also been exhausted and going to bed hours earlier than I normally would, taking naps during the day, I have headaches, eating more, extremely thirsty at night, and occasional nausea. I am due to have my period in 8 days. So... if it does come - I'm going to have to go to a doctor and figure out what's going on because something would obviously be wrong.

If you have a history of cysts, then I'd definitely look into it further with your dr

At this point, the symptoms you are experiencing are due to progesterone levels which rise after O. Because you are ttc, you will be more aware of them. I've experienced fatigue, nausea, headaches, extra hunger & thirst post-O & so do many of us here. Its completely normal, not to mention frustrating that pre-af & early pregnancy symptoms are so similar. We've seen many women completely fooled & certain they are knocked up only to be greeted by af & many women experiencing zero symptoms who are surprised to get bfps. Sometimes, there's no rhyme or reason in this ttc game we play! Typically, early pregnancy symptoms arent felt until well after you get a bfp. Your body doesn't start producing hcg until after implantation which can range from 5-10dpo.

If we *assume* you O'd around the 20th, then you could be 9dpo & you could try testing on Friday at 12dpo if you wanted to satisfy your curiosity. Or you can just wait it out & see if af finds you next week.

okay so AF is due in 6 days but symptoms are staying strong and now have new ones. My nipples are very sensitive and sore (but not breasts). Having cramps still some stronger than others, watery discharge, my back aches, and lots of nausea.. especially when i lay down or wake up in the morning. I'm also having very weird dreams and when I wake up they feel like they were real. Headaches coming and going. It has to be too early to have these? If this is pms it is by far the strangest I've ever had. I woke up last night at 4am and I thought to myself "i'm pregnant" just this thought that popped into my head. If I'm not then that's okay but all these symptoms are not normal for me. Has anyone else had this experience and then had a positive test? Im about 11-12 days past ovulation now I took a test this morning and was negative.

What is going on?! :(

Remember you are only guessing at when ovulation was, so you really don't know how many dpo you are. It could still be too early to test, plus some people dont get bfp's until 14 dpo or later. It's entirely possible you are prego & don't have enough hcg in your system to register a positive OR everything you're experiencing is just from the progesterone. Throw in a little ttc psychosomatics & it's enough to drive you batty! I was so sure I was knocked up during our first cycle but alas I was not.

Just remember a bfn doesn't mean a thing until af shows. Until she makes an appearance you are still in the game. If she does show, I'd call the dr & make sure your symptoms aren't related to a new cyst.

Good luck
