Went to the Dr.'s this morning for an appointment to review blood work. Apparently, I got the Rubella vaccine when I was younger, but they didn't find enough anti-bodies in my blood which means I need a booster vaccine. They called last wednesday to make this appointment, and DH and I have been BD for the entire time, really trying hard to make a baby.
Apparently, I have to wait to see if I'm preggers, if I'm not, then get the shot, then wait 3 WHOLE MONTHS before trying again. We just don't have that kind of time!!! I've read on this site, that it is safe to get pregnant after 1 month from the shot. I'm so confused! And if I am pregnant, than I am causing huge risks to my baby if I run into someone who has the virus! Why didn't they tell me last week??? The Dr. could have saved me all sorts of trouble.
Argh!
Thanks for letting me get all this out. Now I just need to worry and wait. Does anybody have an advice?? I really need to know what my options are.
Thanks,
Ginger

Very cool! I love going downtown and spending time in the harbour. Lush is one of my favorite stores, I know lots of locals that go downtown for their products. I especially love the bath bombs - Sleepy time is my favorite.
The Empress is awesome (I've never stayed there, but I've heard).
I just love where I live :)

It certainly is a small world (especially in Victoria) but sadly I don't know her.
I'm from Toronto originally, and grew up in the High Park area. My parent's and brother are still out there - my mom is in Belwood (outside of guelph), my dad in Etobicoke, and my brother is in snottie Oakville (!) I hope I didn't offend anyone.
I moved to Victoria 8 years ago and love it here, but thinking about moving out east (Halifax, NS) or the NWT. Hubby and I want a change. Ideally, we wanted to get preggers now, then I could take mat leave, and he could find another job wherever we decided to move.
Anyhow...so many plans!! Life's too short not to explore!

a 25 acre property up in northern Ontario- by Algonquin Park (if you know it)to move to and build our dream home. We too are trying to time things so I'll be on maternity leave- gotta LOVE that 1 year!LOL!
I just HAVE to get outta this city!

I totally agree - get outta the city!!! :) Brampton is such a big city now. It wasn't when I was just a kid, but when I visit there now, I can't get over how big it's gotten. I know Algonquin park - 25 acres and some peace no doubt! Crazy. Well, we want to build dream house too, just somewhere cheaper to live. Victoria is super expensive. I think Nova Scotia sounds nice, and I have spent many summers there, with lots of extended family (grandparent's, aunt, uncles...etc.). DH and I are visiting there Aug 18-29th.
Yup, gotta get moving and shaking. Make things different. So I guess that finding out I might have to wait 3 months before TTC again, really put a damper on not just being preggers, but also having to wait longer before being able to move.
It was awesome getting to know you better!!

That's terrible! :( I'm really sorry to hear that. Is there anything you can do? Can you refuse to do it? what are the consequences of telling them you are trying to have a baby?
