Hi all! I am new here and am in need of answers and advice.

I had a miscarriage in Feb. I was pg w/ twins. 10 weeks.

I have tried to conceive since w/ no luck. I felt pg this month so called my OB, she wanted me to come have a Quantitative HCG test. I was only about 6-7 days post ovulation (the only time I had sex this month) the test came back 0 levels of HCG. Was that not too early to take that test? I have read that it takes about 10 days for any HCG to show in the blood?? please, if you know anything about this, i would love to hear from you!!!

I am so sorry to hear about your loss... how sad to lose twins. I'm very sorry!

What I can say from my own experience is that due to other medical problems I had my blood drawn at 5dpo to determine if I was pg. my levels came out at 5 HcG. So, they told me I wasn't pg. (This was with my DD) So for the other medical problems, they injected me with radioactive materials and did a 55 minute long MRI.

9 days later, I was late for AF so I did an HPT, it came out +. I was SO mad and so scared for my 2 week old fetus... baby! They acted like it was no big deal... "oh sorry, your levels were at 5, they have to be AT 6 or greater for us to consider you pregnant. You'll probably just miscarry now, you'll be fine!" My husband and I were SOOOOO pissed off! Especially because it had taken us 1.5 yrs for our DS - and just their attitude towards OUR BABY! "Oh, it'll just abort itself!"

Anyway - I'm going off on something else now... my point is:

At 5 dpo I was at a 5 HcG count - low, but there was stuff in my system already. You were at 6 dpo and had 0. I'm not a dcotor though, and I do know that every woman's HcG count rises differently.

What I would say though is, as best you can, try to wait until you are more like 12-13 dpo if you are going to retest by blood... or even HPT. The longer you wait, the better your chnaces or getting more accurate results.

The problem with even a blood test that early, is that it can take up to 10 days for implantation and it's only after that happens that hcg is produced. I think you may want to have it repeated around the time AF is due.
