I'm totally new at charting, taking my temperature every day and taking OPK's so being my first month i would like input from you great ladies and please advise if these up and down temp's are normal?

As u can see on the chart i've had 2 dark purple lines 3 days in a row on my OPK so when the heck am i ovulating? for the past two days my CM has been dry but 3 days before that it was watery/a little creamy. Please help!

Looks like you haven't O'd yet by your chart. As far as OPK's go,though, I've never used them so I can't help you much there.

Hello,

I've used OPKs and I've never had a ++ 3 days in a row, but I find them to be quite accurate and to coincide with other fertility signs. By your chart, it really does not look like you've O'd yet. I would use the ++ OPK days and CM days just to be sure you cover all grounds when you do O. Good luck!

Hmmm... do you have the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler? I was just poring over the book (again) yesterday, and I know there was some section on what to do if you consistently get positive OPK results.

I *think* the book said that having many positive OPKs is most common in women with hyper- or hypo-thyroidism (I don't remember which), that they have higher LH levels which give a lot of positive OPKs, regardless of when O takes place. Have you been checked for a thyroid condition? Of course... you may want to get the book so you can look this one up... mine is at home right now, so I can't tell you exactly what it said.

Good luck to you!

Casual,

Totally confused! I have a feeling i misread my OPK tests because i've kept all of them since thursday which was the first day i started them and i figured by keeping them i would be able to compare the darkness and i must say it is difficult to see the difference cause they all look similar except the one i took today looks darker than the others. The one i took today looks closer to the test line color. I'm a bit confused. I know one line is suppose to be lighter (if negative) or two dark lines (for positive) but todays test looks more like the test line color. The others i've taken also look pretty close to the test line but not like today. The thing is that i've been have ovu pains since friday and my CM has been off and on light/minimal creamy/watery and my temps are wierd.

Here's my chart so far, my temps are also confusing me.

Hi,

You shouldn't compare OPKs because that doesn't mean anything. The only thing that counts are the lines on the same OPK. It is just the question whether the test line is as dark or darker than control line.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad you responded; I was going to go looking for your message again today. I dug out my "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" book, and found the section with "A Word About Ovulation Predictor Kits." I spoke incorrectly yesterday (the book has too much dang information for me to absorb!). It's quite common for women with PCOS - NOT thyroid problems - to consistently get positive OPK results. Their bodies produce extra amounts of LH. PCOS women are often anovulatory and have odd temp spikes and CM that's just kind of "all over the place."

I know, OPKs can be so confusing to read. For starters, you don't need to keep your old tests, and you don't need to worry about what any day-to-day changes are (i.e., light yesterday, but barely visible today). If your past test result lines were AS DARK AS or DARKER than your reference line, those were positive OPKs (regardless of those test result lines' relation to other days' test result lines)... so you've probably been reading them correctly.

It might be possible that ovulated Friday... you had a temp spike, fertile CM and a positive OPK all on the same day... or it's possible that your body is still gearing up for it. While sure, your chart doesn't look "textbook," it's amazing some of the charts out there that resulted in pregnancy! (Take a look at the "Chart Gallery" on Fertility Friend - great stuff out there).

Good luck to you!

Thanks for your responses casual. Since i'm all new to charting, checking CM or basically keeping track of when i ovulate; this is all confusing because i too thought i was suppose to ovulate friday-saturday and now today i have much more ovu pains and more egg-whitish CM.

I think between today and tomorrow i will be ovulating. It's amazing how before i didnt know my body as well as i know now or at least i know a little bit more about my body now and it's very interesting.

For Ex: before when would see CM i wouldnt even care cause i wasnt TTC but now i know so much more and i know why i'm getting CM and i pay more attention to any abdominal pain that i get. The human body is totally interesting in my opinion.
