hi...please someone respond...no one ever does. Yesturday I started provera for irrreg af then i will start clomid. I "think" i am 11dpo (yesturday bfn). The dr said provera will not hurt me a baby if I am preggers, but I read that it can cause birth defects. I feel so upset. I probably am not pregnant but still. when will provera bring af if I'm not

Amy,

I'm not familiar with provera. Do you mean Depo-provera? First I would recommend talking to your doctor again or call another doctor. If you are looking for alternate sources of information try doing a seach on the internet for "provera" or "prover and birth defects" and see what pulls up.

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=provera&ei=UTF-8&fr=slv1&vm=i&n=20&fl=0&x=wrt

Please keep inmind that what you may find on the internet is not always true and factual. There is no subsitute for a second opinion from a doctor.

Goodluck!

Hi Amy,

I don't mean to igore anyone, I'm sure the others don't as well. Lots of us are pretty new to TTC and don't have experience or insight to offer when hard questions are posted. (I'm embarrassed to admit that other than hearing about Clomid in some of these posts, I don't really even know what it is.)

We all hope the best for you, and try to answer when we think we can be helpful.

I hope it all works out!

Hi, Amy. No one is ever intentionally ignored....sometimes it takes a while to get a post to some question that others aren't too sure of themselves, so please be patient. I'm not sure if you know, but there is a little "more" tab at the bottom left corner of the folder that you can click on to see past posts. The way the board works is that the most recent posts get bumped to the top, pushing down other posts. In this particular folder things get moving fast, so if your post gets bumped down to far to be seen, then feel free to post to your own post to *bump* it back up for viewing. I do see a post back in the "more" file that you posted and there are 4 replies to it....did you see them? I try to go back every morning to see if there are any posts that were missed replying to so I can bump them up...I know how aweful it is to not get a reply to something you are wondering about. I hope the ladies can help you with your question!

((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))) and GL to you!

Tara

Hi,

I don't know the answer to your question about whether Provera would be safe if you were pg. I just took it to cause AF and read the insert that said that it could cause birth defects. I'm curious why you are taking it if you just o'd anyway and should be getting af on your own? Wouldn't you then start Clomid once your own cycle started? If you are at all concerned that you are pg and would feel better not taking it for a few more days just to confirm, I would talk to your doctor.

But I can answer that when you stop the Provera, you should get AF in three or four days. Mine was very light, mostly spotting, but I've heard some say that it can sometimes be pretty heavy.

Hope this helps. Talk to your doctor again, if you can, or get a second opinion if you are concerned.
