If you have had what seemed to be implantation spotting, please take the poll at the bottom of the board about whether or not you were pregnant. Thanks for your participation!

possibly stupid question/statement here but...if it didn't 'implant' then how could you be pregnant?

also, i've read somewhere that implantation is more rare than common - does anyone know if that's true?

I'm thinking exactly on the same lines as you. People usually call any spotting between 6 and 12 dpo "implantation spotting." I was wondering how many people spot during that time but are not actually pregnant, so it isn't really implantation spotting. I was curious on how common or rare it is. Although I had spotting with my pregnancy, it was too late to be implantation spotting and it continued off and on for a good 3 or 4 weeks, but there were no problems.

I used to think it was one of those "probably" pregnant signs, but it may not mean anything. That is why I was doing the poll...

Here is the link to my chart. If you look, I had a dip (rather implantation, don't know but it was a good dip) then today it rose back up to high range. I've been having all kinds of symptoms this week. I am testing this Saturday 14dpo when af is due and we'll see if mine was a "true implantation" dip or if it is really a fluke or a myth!

Got my progesterone level blood test today and my doc said that a level over 10 for non-medicated (no fertility drugs) and they like to see a level over 15 with clomid, or drug of same. I got my levels back from 7dpo (I took the test at 6dpo since the 7th day fell on a Saturday) my levels today were 35.6! I finished my 1st round of clomid this cycle, 100mg cd 4-8.

Chanda,

I had spotting last cycle at 6dpo, it was light pink and only showed up on the toilet paper.

I am very sorry to tell you that I was not pg :(

But I hope you are!!

Shal,

Did you have any other pg symptoms with the spotting? Do you think you could of had a chemical pg? I have "usually" only heard of spotting (if it's abnormal for you mid-cycle) to be implantation and I had the amount you're talking about with a dip at 8dpo and a rise the next day but I am having tons of symptoms.

FF did a study on the tons of charts they have. I don't remember the exact numbers, but you can go look them up. It was something like 38% of the pregnancy charts had a LP dip that could be around implantation time and a lower number, like 32% of the non pregnancy charts had a LP dip that could be around implantation time. Thus, statistically, a dip around 7-12 dpo is very very very slightly in favor of pregnancy. (Although, we still don't know if that means it is related to implantation.)

Robyn,

Yeah, I know the dip is pretty much a myth. I posted a huge message on this a couple of weeks ago or so with a bunch of links (http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-pptrying&msg=141212.1). For some reason, I had in my head that the "implantation spotting" was more likely to be a pregnancy sign, but from what I am finding out, it is about the same difference. I'm on hold right now, but a friend of mine has had spotting at 11 dpo. I was about to bring up the whole "implantation spotting" thing, until I started realizing it is somewhat mythical itself. I don't want to get her hopes up because she has been trying for 2 years with a M/C last year. Like I said in the implantation dip message, it is all fine and good to "imagine" that these things mean something in fun. But when people take it so seriously, like many do on this message board, it makes for a lot of broken hearts.
