Is is possible to never get EWCM?

Hi ladies,

Well, I'm back from vacationing in Mexico. DH and I managed the BD fest--no easy feat with a 15 month old and staying at times with relatives! This is the first month that I've really monitored my cm. Although it thinned out some, it stayed whitish and opaque--definately not egg whitey. Also, I took four OPK tests over four days, but never got a + before running out of tests. They were internet cheapies, so I'm not sure how reliable they were. So my question is, do some women never get EWCM as their most fertile cm? It seems that mine is always whitish. Another question: does AF always arrive 14 days after O, or is that just a guideline? Thanks so much!!!

GA Lisa! Welcome back- eek, vacation sounded fun but interesting in the bd department- lol! Yep- I never get ewcm..only watery. The lp (luteal phase) between o and af is generally speaking around 14 days, but that varies for every woman. The best way to find out your lp length is to BBT chart, you'll see approximately when o occurs and when af comes, over a couple of months you should see a definite pattern. Now o may or may not occur on the day you think, but the lp length should be pretty consistent. I have a lp of 13 days...well, until this month when it went to 14, which completely weirded me out but I also o'd two days earlier than usual too. My theory is that perhaps our o day and our lp may even perhaps vary a little by which ovary our egg is being released from- what do you think of that? lol!!!!! HTH GL and hoping you'll get that bfp here any day now!!! ((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) +++++++++ PV's!!!!!!!!! LOLove, Connie

It's possible for some women to never get EWCM. For those women, creamy is sometimes the most fertile type (this sounds like what you've got). It's still possible to conceive with this CM. You might also consider plain Robitussin from after AF ends until you O; this is supposed to help with thinning out your CM. (I don't know much about it, since I haven't tried it).

In most women, AF arrives 12-16 days after O. It may show up several days sooner than that, but I believe rarely much later.

Hi Lisa,

I read today in this great book I found - Getting Pregnant Naturally by Winifred Conkling - that Evening Primrose Oil also assists in thinning out mucus. Here's what it says:

Take up to 500 Milligrams of Evening Primrose Oil Three Times a Day:

The oil from the seeds of the evening primrose plant contains gamma-linolenic acid, an oil much like the essential fatty acid omega-6. A deficiency in the fatty acids can contribute to infertility by causing a thickening of the cervical mucus and the formation of mucus hostile to sperm. Evening Primrose Oil - as well as fish oils - contains fatty acids that can help reverse infertility caused by a mucus problem.

The gamma-linolenic acid found in evening primrose oil is also a precursor to the formation of certain prostaglandins, which help reduce inflamation, lower blood pressure, maintain salt-water balance, and support the immune system. While side effects from E.P.O. are rare, you can avoid nausea by taking the supplements with food. (Note: I take it and it's never bothered me:)

Also, get your DH on Vitamin C (up to 3000 milligrams a day). She cites some incredible studies about Vit C and sperm motility, longevity and general health. And, hey, he'll be so healthy he'll have lots of energy to BD!!

Good luck!

Lauren - thank you for that post! Quick question - should primrose oil be taken all the time or just in the first part of the cycle like robittusin?
