What brand of prenatal vitamins should I take? My NP suggested that I start taking them when we started TTC, and the ones I have used are SO expensive. Plus the directions say taking 6 a day and it's hard to remember.

What kind of prenatal vitamins should I take?

I take Target brands multi vit. for women and then take addtional calcium. They are real cheap and work great. That is what my doc told me to use.

Amy,

I don’t know if there is one great one to recommend. I take Preconceive. My OB/GYN said that a prenatal is a prenatal, but she prescribed them to me because they are low in iron (which helps with constipation). They run be $12 for 30 pills (30 days). Six pills a day is ridiculous! Hope this helps…

I use the Costco version. One bottle has over 300 vitamins in it. They are exactly the same as the ones prescribed for me.

Most are the same, just check the ingredients.

Good Luck!

I take a prescription pre-natal where I take 2 pills a day, the one in the morning has the Omega-3 fatty acids that they say are really good for the heart and fetal development. The night dose has the iron in it. It's really good, I've never experienced any side effects and I think it's helped w/giving me more energy plus my nails grow like crazy! I've also noticed that my cellulite on my thighs has diminished some! I've heard that fatty acids are good for that. So that's a plus!! =)

Hi,

PreCare Prenatal vitamins are supposed to be good, for those ttc, but they are only available by Rx and may be expensive. The other prenatal vitamin that you take one in the morning and one at night, that contain the omega-3 essential fatty acids are called PrimaCare and also only available by Rx and are also fairly expensive from what my sister has told me.

GNC (General Nutrition Center) makes a prenatal vitamin also. I take their womens daily vitamin and they are all natural.

I had a Rx prenatal called Chromagen OB, for my first pregnancy.

Good Luck..hope this helps.

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is an option for you or not but I called my obgyn and asked for a perscription of prenatals. She gave me precare and with my insurance co-pay they are only $10 a month.

Hope this helps

Hi,

I also know that if your Prescription Plan has a mailorder service, the RX's can be less expensive that way too!! In some plans, I think you pay your co-pay once and then get a 3 months supply (they mail you one month at a time), then you pay another co-pay and get another 3 months supply, etc...

Something worth checking out for everyone!
