Proactiv skin care and pregnancy

I have a coworker that has dealt with acne most of her life and she is very tired of it, so she spent a lot of money on Proactive 3 weeks ago.

Jennifer -
I'm not sure, but your friend should ask a very good OBGYN who is sensitive to how it feels to have moderate to severe skin issues.
I hardly ever post but I wanted to pass on some info to you.
There are many ingredients that are teratogens (linked to birth defects)
Salicylic, glycolic, aloe vera, rosemary, benzoyl peroxide...
Pro Active contains at least benzoyl peroxide, so I wouldn't take the risk-even if the links are remote.
When I was first expecting (a few years ago)-my OB told me about Belli since they are the only brand in the world that screens for these potentially harmful ingredients. It's been 5 years and I used them even when I was ttc..just to be safe...

My doctor can be strict but...
when I had my first, there was something in it that my dr did not like but I can't remember which ingredient it was.
i saw you got some good info about chemicals, etc. i will just add that my Dh has acne and is a chemistry know-it-all. he looked into the proactiv stuff, and he saw that there was nothing special about it, it is more that it is a gimick , you are paying for the routine. Perhaps if your friend could find a natural alternative, and stick with a routine, she would have some results??
At least she should ask her Ob about it, but the big one to avoid when pg is retinal or retin-A.
anyway, good luck!!
