Progesterone?

I have been having two periods a month for 4 months now and got my blood work back. They couldn't find anything wrong, but will try progesterone with me to help me out.

Anyone have any experience taking progesterone? Got pregnant taking it ...

For starters... are you charting your temps? Are you sure you're getting two periods per month? There's a great story in TCOYF about a patient who thought she was getting her period twice a month - one heavier, one lighter. Once she started charting her BBT, she realized that her lighter "period" was actually "heavy ovulation spotting."

Are you going to be taking the progesterone post-O? If so, that's a good thing. It helps you build and maintain a healther uterine lining for any fertilized eggie.

If you are not taking the progesterone post-O, but rather starting CD1 or whatever, then that's not so good. It's technically possible to still get pg while taking progesterone, HOWEVER, the extra progesterone in your system could have the impact of PREVENTING OVULATION... your body is used to having higher progesterone levels only after O, so your progesterone levels could signal to your body not to ovulate while you are on the pills.

Maybe your doctor just wants to try to "shock your system" this one cycle, so if it can give you some relief from the relentless AFs... then great! (You must be a saint for putting up with the old hag all the time!)

Only other advice: take your progesterone pills at bedtime, and at least 3 hours after eating. Depending on what dosage you go on, it can cause dizziness!

Good luck to you!

Thanks for all that info.

I am taking it throughout my cycle, i assue. It doesn't say on the bottle. I guess I need to call the gyn.
