question about donating blood

I am supposed to donate blood on the 21st. I just went to the Dr this am for a blood test and I am waiting for the results. If it is positive do you think I would be ok to donate? AF would normally be due on the 21st so if I were not charting I would not know I were pregnant...What are your thoughts.

April,

It was really hard for me to give up donating blood. It's just such a great thing to do, and you can watch TV, read, whatever. I think everybody who can should donate. My feelings on that are pretty strong.

But..while TTC I have stopped donating. I would imagine that losing a pint of blood while trying to nourish a baby may not be the best thing.

I really hope you get that BFP this month!! And I hope you feel comfortable with whatever decision you make.

And after the Pg we can go right back to donating.

Anyway we can encourage DH to do it even if we can't. :)

I'm a regular blood donor also and I've continued to donate while TTC as long as I know I'm not pg, but once you are pregnant they will defer you (they ask if you are now pregnant or have been within the past 6 weeks). This protects both mom and baby. So once you get your results you will know. Hope it's a BFP for you!
