Help! The fact plus test I used says to wait for 20 min to confirm a neg. I read mine at 20 min and there was a faint line...not strain your eyes faint but not dark either. Now I am worried that I read it at 21 min or something! Does anyone have any experience with theese tests? I would LOVE to believe the pos result but I don't want to be dissapointed!! Does anyone know if these tests get a high rate of false pos or evap lines?

TIA

I went and did a little investigating for you Jennifer~ every where I have read that Fact Plus is one of the least sensitive tests there are. It is known to give negative results in early stages of pg even up to 5 weeks pg!!! Below is a clip I copied for you:

"HCG is measured in thousandths of International Units, or mIU. The most sensitive tests can detect hCG levels as low as 25 mIU. This level is present in the urine of most pregnant women about 8 to 11 days after ovulation, or about the first day after a missed period. With less-sensitive tests, you'd have to wait longer for an accurate result.

So which are the most sensitive tests? Most of the reviewers we found recommend either Be Sure One Step (*est. 5.99 for a single-use kit) or Confirm One-Step (*est. $6.99 for a single-use kit), both of which can detect hCG levels as low as 25 mIU. Confirm costs about a dollar more, mainly because it includes a "keepsake" feature for saving test results, which many first-time moms appreciate. It's also available in a two-test package for about $13.99.

Another important factor to consider is how easy a test is to interpret. In most cases (as with the two products cited above) you have to look for a line to appear that indicates pregnancy; often a "control" line will pop up in any case, to let you know the test is working properly. A few products, like Fact Plus, have a plus sign or some other symbol that indicates the result unambiguously. Unfortunately, these easy-to-read tests aren't necessarily the most sensitive. In fact, reviewers say Fact Plus is one of the least sensitive popular tests, and relatively expensive besides (about $12 for a single-use kit), which is why it's not included in ConsumerSearch Fast Answers."

Now where at all has it said about a false positive or evaporation line.......I'm going to go ahead and give you a big

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!

I'm sure it's GOT to be positive- I would highly recommend going out and getting a more sensitive test- First Response Early is one of the most highly touted and test again- make sure your urine is concentrated!!!!

Teera - Thanks so much for you support - I certainly need it!!

Tara - Thanks for all the research and the clip! I hope that's the case - I am just so worried it won't be and I'll be hugely dissapointed. Thanks for the reassurance too!

FYI

I took another test (I held my pee for 4 excruitiating hours)- CVS brand which is supposed to be more sensitive. A very faint line appeared after 5 min. Again, not strain your eyes faint but not as dark as the Fact Plus test either. (The line has since darkened but it well past it's accuracy time.) I am starting to feel more hopeful...but still cautious. I am going to test again in the AM wiht fmu again and see what happens then.
